If i follow the CBR1000F manual, the ratteling sound disappears complitely! but the wining sound is there then. It dosn't sound bad, only when it's cold it's very destinct.

I was just wondering how much one should be able to hear that wining sound. The sound dosn't bother me at all, and i simply hate the ratteling sound. I just don't want to break anything in the engine...

And discovering this option to adjust the balancer is the best thing that happened to me since the invention of beer and Denmark defeating Sweden in the last soccer game

Then it appears to be great, since you adjust the balancer to the end and then back it off one mark, there is some lash protecting the gear. I have a whining sound on my Bird to, but dont find it dirsturbing at all. It can only be heard at low speeds and sound like an electrical engine. Perhaps it is, I mean it could be sound from the generator.

Yes, you deserve some good dannish beer now

Hi there you said it was easy, could you please share you workings with us as I am sure other people like including myself would appreciate your advise, and also any photos if you took any. Mine has a slight rattle whether cold or hot and also it has backlash with the cam chain when cold so hopefully this will solve the nosie.

Noe

Thanks for this ( Seem to have lost my confindence as I have gotten older to Explore ) I asked me local motor cycle machine and he had never heard of this adjustment but this is the same one that wants to take a heap of cash off me to place new cam chain and adjusters in my bike.

Now I know its on the right hand side on the motor looking forward ( Clutch Side ) does the centre piece of cowling or the actual lowest piece of cowling need to come off and also a step by step would be appreciated when I do it I will take pictures and maybe a DVD of it too ( SO I can show the local machinic ).

Thank You

Wazza

Mate that is more than reasonable I do thank you very much. There are some really nice people out there riding bikes, I am glad I got back riding again after a 25 year break and now all the kids are gone I can go back to what I enjoyed a lot of years ago.

Hi again,

well I adjusted the balancer this morning, and I have driven about 120km today.

Before I had alot of rattle when the engine was cold, none when it was warm.

This is now reduced to be only the camchain/tensioner!

And the vibrations are reduced.

So it worked great for me.

Thanks for the tip Noe!

Do you mean that when it warms up the rattle is gone??

the rattle that was there before that WAS NOT from the CC and CCT is gone when it is cold.
It has never rattled when warm.

Allright Waz57 here is your step by step to how to adjust your balancer.

I Assume that you can dismantle the faring. If you can't speak up, and I will show you how

1. Take off the faring on the right side of the bike, and here you will find the adjuster schrew to the balancer

2. You can see the adjuster right here

3. Start with loosen the lowest bolt (the pinch bolt)

4. Turn the shaft counterclockwise up to dead end and back off by one graduation.
Then thighten the pinch bolt again, and put the farring on again
This should be done while the engine is cold

5. Job done, and you are ready to head off into the horizon

I hope this is to your satisfaction Was!

You can't take that bit off without taking off the whike side fairing.

Don't worry, its good practice. :)
