Cool to bring this up, I've read it a couple of weeks ago since I was concerned about a strong vibration on the right handlebar ("strong" enough to make my hand numb after 50km or so), followed the steps on the manual with the engine cold, worked like a charm, got rid of that annoying vibration and the engine feels smoother.
This is probably something every new 1000F rider should check before the first ride, it's easy, quick, and helps a lot!

Hi All, Long time since I been here, but just wanted to say I did this adjustment today and would definitely recommend doing it with the engine running. With the engine off, I couldn’t feel where to set it, but running there’s no doubt! Mine took 1 full turn counterclockwise and backed if off one notch. Can’t wait to have a test run, I will report here how it goes..! =)

its 10.22 pm uk i woz going to fit new cc slider but will wait till morning to try balance trick, i say trick because it sounds like magic.

The balancer thing sounds more difficult than it is,but it most definatly works,did mine a couple of weeks ago and it has made a huge difference,no more numb fingers on my right hand and the engine sounds and runs so much better afterwards.
Tried to do mine without the engine running but couldnt make any sense of the ''turn anticlock till it stops'' bit, so started her up and did it running,so easy,just have to listen to the engine tone change and then back off a notch.

HI SAWNEE, Im mike and im from down the road from you HASTINGS, the guy i got the bike from tryed everything to stop the rattle,i got it at a good price because of this ,and a little turn later and i`m smilling.my kane is chopped/lowrider/streetfighter,pics to follow as soon as i know how.

does back off one graduation mean, from the original mark or first mark from full dead stop?

Well I tried this by backing off to the first index mark (groove). That improved shifting but the "whinning" was driving me carzy and making me nervous.
So, I tried once again and backed off to the space between the first two index marks (raised section, "graduation" maybe?) whinning was gone and shifting was smoother still, and the bar buzz is far less as well.
I''m happy! :-)

Yer the right setting can vary from bike to bike mate..
That backing off 1 mark is from it turned right in ...
Just curious mate..
Did you at anytime try adjusting it with her engine running?

I only tried it with the engine cold and not running, per the Honda manual instruction.

Just shows the little oriental guys (or the ones who wrote the manual) don''t know everything.............
Start motor, rotate balance counterclockwise until the whining starts, back off until it stops, secure shaft. Maybe 15 minutes, tops.

Its great that shes quiet now ..
but...you might want to be careful about the whine ..
You mention that the idle dropped ? hmmm that could be because the adjustment is a touch too tight..?
If she is to tight it will cause premature wear... at the least 
What do you recon Pete ??
