Just wondering if a/one else has noticed a driveline noise after installing a afam 15 th front sprocket ? I did hear that it may cause some sort of vibration cuz it doesn't have the dampening material like the stock sprocket, but i'm getting what i would describe as almost a whining when under power, then goes away when off-throttle. I have checked the chain tension and lubed it again w/no result. Was asking because i didn't notice it right after i put the new afam spkt on, but it started making noise very soon after, within about 100 miles or so. Love the new gearing, and don't want to take it off, but the noise bugs me !!

I have the same on my bike and did have additional noise, but nothing I couldn`t live with. Sounds to me like you need louder exhaust. If you checked everything, including chain alignment, you should be good to go. I would say the next time your due for chain lube, check the wear on the sprocket to see if its even on both sides. ( helpful to have a dental mirror or something like it so you don`t have to take all that shit off again.

How many miles did you have on the chain? Did you replace the chain?

2000 on chain,(and bike) and no, i didn't replace it. Stayed w/the 530, just wanted to try the -1 in front, and liked it, so put a healer on too. Shortly after started getting the driveline noise. Might not even be from the spkt change, but was wondering if s/one else was getting the same noise out of theirs (afam 15 for an 061krr) Its not horrible or a/thing, but it is pretty loud. Can live w/it, but wondering if its norm, or if s/thing has gone wrong. Thought i'd ask before i go tearin into it, just to find out its normal !!

if you think the 530 15t is loud then try the 520 there is hardly any weight to it at all so that thing is loud and vibrates like crazy as long as you put it on with the arrow facing forward tightened to the correct torque and adjusted and aligned the chain properly you are fine

The noise itself is nothing to be concerned about. it will go away after some hard miles are put on the sprocket. What happened is that in 2000 miles the sprockets and chain bed into each other and are smoothed out. they work themselves into a groove so to speak. When you replace one component, you disrupt that grove, and then the music sounds like crap. only by replacing all the components all at once are you able to keep the groove good. If not, you'll just have to put up with the noise until the new guy knows how to play again. see?

Thanks guys !! I'll leave it alone for now n see how it does. My 02 f4i made some noise like that, and have heard it from other bikes, but was new for the 1krr. Alignment looks good, no weird wear for now. Did kinda sound like blower whine, or if you've ever put a timing belt on too tight, same sort of noise. Was expecting vibration tho, not whine.
