Was wondering if a 180 tire width would fit on the back of my 94' F2???? Right now i have a 170 which i think is wider than stock ,there also is a little room between the tire and swing arm but wanted to make sure the 180 would fit befor i spend all my pennies on the tire.......than kurt

Forgot to ask if an '02 cbr F4 rim(which i know the acual rim is wider so it will hold the tire size safely) which has the 180 on it would be an exact bolt on to my F2??

I have a 180 tire on my F2 and I think I made a huge mistake. It looks like a damn innertube on the wheel. You should stick with the stock size (160) because it allows the tire to have a flatter profile on the tread, so you get more control and contact with the right size tire. With the 180 tire on a 160 rim, the profile is so round that I have 1" wide chicken strips on the sides because I can't go any lower and the steering feels awfully twitchy going into turns because the bike seems to want to roll off the apex of the tire a lot more than with the 160. As for the F4i wheel question, I'm not sure.

What if you have a larger rim as mentioned above?

I have a 5 inch rim from a f3 and presently running a 170 I am also thinking about
putting a 180 on. If you have the 4.5 rim (stock) you are a complete 1/2 inch off
each side of tire and rim (fitment) so it would look like an innertube.

If you use a 5 inch rim your off by a .25 both sides. also tire is 10mm taller
from the 170

Did you try and put a larger rim on the bike, if so I would like to know if you have
the same feeling as you did before.

Holla back...!!!

Not only will a 180 not fit on an F2 rim (properly) its also very unsafe. 180's are designed for 5.5 inch or 6 inch rim. Smaller rims will cause tires to "wrap" or not seal the bead correctly. I've run a motorcycle shop for years, so believe me when I say this is a BAD idea.

In response to your actual question, yes a 180 tire will fit between the swingarm of your F2. Is it a good idea? No. You will not gain any benifit from this other than more expensive tires when you have to replace them. If all you care about is the look of having a fat tire on the back then get a late model rear wheel and go for it, if you want performance then stick with a 160.
