Yoshimura RS-5 Install

josho66 -> Yoshimura RS-5 Install (8/3/2005 8:12:23 AM)

I just ordered this slip on for my 2005 600RR and I was thinking about installing it myself. I was wondering how hard of an install it is. Also does it come with install instructions or are there some posted online somewhere?? I have some mechanical knowledge but not much, especially on a motorcycle. Is this something that most people can do or am I better off having it done by my local shop?? For those that have a shop do it how long did it take and how much did they charge?? Any help would be great!!

From what Ive heard, the hardest part is getting all the body work and crap off. Slip on install should just be disconnecting at midpipe and putting new one on. I imagine you could handle it with limited knowledge.

I installed a Jardine RT-One on my bike. Whole process took me maybe 2 hours from taking everyhting apart, removing the old system, installing new system, patching it back up. Instructions can be helpful but honestly aren't necessary. If something's in the way, remove it [;)]
Make sure you remove the heat shields off of the 'S' pipe from the stock system, you'll wanna put those on the new system.

Check out www.twobrothersracing.com. On there site you will find install instructions for their pipe on the CBR600RR. They are very well writen and show a lot of good picture and will be the same for any after market under seat pipe for your RR.

Do it yourself it will make you more familar with your bike,save some$$ and make you feel good about it.... I installed myn and it was really easy just take your time. Be carefull when taking of the old pipe as to not ruin the gasket. Had I thought about it I would of got a new one before hand (it dosen't come with a new one). One last thing remeber to loctite all the bolts when putting it backtogether.(use the Blue not the red loctite)Good luck.

save yourself the money and do it, you'll get to learn more about your bike...plus its easy, don't be afraid to bend the tail plastic.

Do I keep the stock heat shield that is under the tail section?? I know that the stock one down on the side of the bike I keep, what about the one under the seat???

springs -> RE: Yoshimura RS-5 Install (8/3/2005 8:00:15 PM)

No you don't .. but they give you some heat shielding material to use.
