It is not the innaccuracy of the radar it is the conditions that can cause error. The frequency on radar is so High, If you had the equipment to analyze it, you could figure out the drivers heartbeat, as their pulse would would cause their foot to slightly let off and on the accelerator. I believe that Radar is accurate unless it has been dropped or is broken. The radar gets calibrated everyday before use. There is bery small margine for error. The cosine effect is where the error comes in. Its like snow and your satelite dish, the snow will interfere with your signal, while the angle of the object coming towards the radar is like the snow that distorts the signal. The signal is still there, there is just an outside variable that can change things. if you come over a hill and a cop is sitting on the shoulder facing you (using his forward antena) or facing the same direction( pulled off the road) and using his rear antena There is no angle in there to cause an innacurate reading. The radar beam shoots out thousands of signals right after each other and as it bounces back, as you move towards the beam sent out is becoming shorter and shorter and the radar unit acts as a calculator and uses the radar beams to calculate your speed. Now if you come around a curve and there is an officer facing you from the other side of the road there will be a great innaccuracy as the cosine effect comes into play because you are traveling around a curve. The greater the curve the greater the error. it is because the radar is being bounced back at a different angle. How many times have you cleared your calculator punched in 2x2. will it ever tell you anything but 4 NOT VERY LIKELY.

Are you an officer? Have you had the Training on Radar? IF not I'd prefer not to argue about it because I believe I know a little more about it.

I'M done arguing about it.

as I recall you stating in another tread. This forum is about stating opinion. Now I posted a comment about him asking the officer what his radar said. It was just a remark because no one would fly by a cop hoping to get clocked and then stop to ask how fast he was going. Then you told me that Radar is inaccuarate and gave facts about state statues. I just gave an insite on radar Then you are saying I contradicted my self. I was just clearing things up and and givings some facts about radar. Once again another thread off topic. Then you come back to thorw your cocky remarks in. Try growing up.

Ok now that this topic has gotten way off track with the stupid arguing.....
I went past one of those police speedometers that tell you how fast you are going. My speedometer read 30 and it came up at 27.
I don't know how accurate this things are (Let's not argue about those now) so that might give me some of a help on to how far I am off.

I'm hoping the mileage markers on the highway are fairly accurately spaced, because that's what I've always used, checking speedometers on cars or my bike.

I lock it at 60mph, and time a mile with a stopwatch ( YEAH, it's a lot harder on a bike!!! LOL ) If all is on the money, you obviously should be going a mile per minute. Using this method, my 929 speedo seems to be dead on with 16 front and I bumped the rear down one to 42.

And in case anyone's wondering, yes I feel really stupid talking about this.....
