I have about 25k miles on my bike and i was wondering how many more miles you think i would get out of it. Its not stunted. I go Fast but not drag racing. The bike is basically stock with the exception of a dyna 2000 and jet kit with after market header and exhaust. what yall think?

I've seen cbr900rr engines with over 40k..... Just make sure you do the valve adjustments according to spec and check the tension on the timing chain.... other then that, you have more likelyhood of a bad voltage regulator, stator, or battery before the engine goes unless you do heavy, looong wheelies.... if you look around, the bearing on the crank usually goes because of lack of oil when doing looong wheelies.

I was at the dealership today with my cylinder heads for work, I asked the repair guy if my 1998 20,000 mile machine will last. He said that a stock cycle can go up to 150,000 on the same crank. I assume that the carbs and gaskets will need replacing at some time. I'm replacing all my hoses and cooling system O ring seals as I put it back together. Ride on Dude.

take into account that the motors for the 900rr's arent that expensive, I would get you a decent 919cc motor for a spare, go through it and rebuild/refresh it, and let it sit until your motor takes a dump. I've always either got a spare motor or a spare bike just incase the worst of the worst happens. I dumped my 929 on a fun run, and called the wife to bring the trailer. I rolled out the other 929 and loaded my wrecked one up so I didn't have to call it quits. The key to staying on the road is keeping the much needed parts on hand.

I have a 95 with 39000 miles on it. I got the bike with 16000 on it. The only problems I have had are the regulator wires had a burnt spot on the yellow wires, 2nd gear went out around 32000 miles (from running bike with low oil). I have replaced the clutch, cam chain, cam chain tensioner, valve guide seals, 2nd 4th and 5th gear (all in on trip to the shop). total cost of everything to be repaired was around 3000 bucks. Some ppl said I was crazy, but what can I say I love this bike....

17,6XX on a 95' RR.....can't keep the front wheel on the ground and the motor runs real good...regular maintenance is really the key. i change the oil and filter every 1000 miles on this bike and my 01' SV650 and lube the chain every few rides. my friends say i'm wasting my money on the oil and filters, but i say stuff like that keeps a bike goin strong. i mean what happens if you have a fish and you don't give it clean water??..........eventually it dies!

After I had the work done to my bike I change the oil every 1500 miles with honda 20-50 and i havent had a problem in 23000 miles and counting. I would have to say change that oil and a honda will outlast any other bike on the market. Most people dont even change their oil on a regular basis and honda motors still run like champs.
