Folks:
Like I said somewhere else in the forum, it's all about how it FEELS. That power, that aggressive look, that flashy color, that sound,..., and yes of course, that slipper clutch, it's all about that feeling. None of it really makes any sense. It doesn't matter if you don't know the meaning of slipper clutch, as long as you can brag about it. Right?
Personally, I like blipping the throttle on a down shift. I do it even if I don't need to. It just sounds good. You know, it's about how it feels. Now, if you had a slipper clutch, you'd have to stop blipping your throttle on a down shift and give up that wonderful privilege of hearing your engine scream. Of course, you could still blip the throttle even with a slipper clutch, but,... that's a little too much don't you think. I mean people might start thinking you actually don't have a slipper clutch.

No, it's a 600RR. The pic in my signature is with a "racoon mask" installed on the front. I'm having these "racoon masks" made to sell to all CBR600RR owners. It's a one piece vinyl mask to make the front end look a little more aggressive. (see a thread in the 600RR forum titled......"Racoon Mask"........and then you can get a view of what it really looks like.)

Actually I happen to love the look of the bike. I never saw the back of the bike until I searched on this website. I got either MOTORCYCLIST or CYCLE RIDER has about one page for the 07' rr. They stated that it wasn't a slipper clutch which the mag wished it was. But it wasn't a regular clutch either. I'll get back to y'all on what it did say about it. One thing I do know is they said it was the best power to weight ratio honda has ever had on a 600 rocket. They didn't show pictures on the rear end of the bike as I'm sure they got the word months ago and just released the magazine. Look for future info from here on out! Like I said though I love the bike and if its as nice as the magazine said I would be motivated in getting one-maybe!

thank you for the double post...taking up bandwidth...
as far as all the new gizmos and gadgets...what the heck is a noob going to do with all the latest and greatest mods other than brag and pose?
especially for the street...i see the new R6 at starbucks with the 4" wide chicken strip...and i swear that the dude stops for turns, gets off his bike and walks it through! there's no way strips can be that big!
so...why need all this for the street? to POSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why be so concerned about how the bike looks and what it has? to pooooooseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...so please join me for posing sessions at your local starbucks. i'll be there!

Why the hell would you need a slipper clutch on a 600? Im no pro, but what the hell. I would recommend getting a steering stablizer first!!!

Why would you need a steering damper on a 600? There's no need for a HESD on a 600RR, they don't need it. I have no idea why the 2007's have a HESD either, but it might be twitchier than the 2003-2006's, we'll just have to wait and see.

EVERY bike needs a steering damper, its got nothing to do with how much power the bikes have
and 600s are unsettled just as much if not more than 1000s under heavy engine braking, so I don't see how you can say they specifically don't need one

This is why I think every bike does not need a steering damper...because your average rider does not race and consistently accelerate hard enough to justify one...I know a lot of riders (new and old) hear people like you say this...maybe experience some head shake, think they got a tank slapper and then run out and buy one as a band-aid to fix poor riding abilities, because they read on a message board that a damper will fix a rider induced problem...
Under normal riding, I've never needed a steering damper, even the times I've been to the track I haven't needed one...although I would get one if I could get to the track more.
If you learn the basics of motorcycling and avoid riding like an ass you'll NEVER need a steering damper...I'd almost guarantee that that the Honda design team put a damper on the bike not for any performance reasons, but because they want to sell motorcycles and acknowledge that most knuckleheads who ride sportbikes think they need a damper to ride safer...they prey on people who believe that RR stands for "race ready."
My opinion:
STEERING DAMPERS ARE A BAND-AID TO COMPENSATE FOR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY POOR OR UNDER DEVELOPED RIDING TECHNIQUES.

Because the geometry is more extreme than previous years, making it a really sharp turner. the more extreme the geometry, the more change for head shake. The 07's reqire one because even with a well trained rider the chances that head shake will show it. it's been built into the design.
