quil900 -> 2007 cbr 600rr (10/23/2006 7:22:27 PM)

Hey guys new to this particular forum and was wondering a few things about the 07 600rr. Has anyone seen what they are going to do or rather aftermarket wise what there is to do with the taillight? I liked the look of the bike but I don't like that taillight at all. What was Honda thinking?

i don't like at all at this point...
who knows maybe it'll grow on me later...

Blue Fox -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/23/2006 7:56:31 PM)

Haven't seen anything yet, but I'm almost positive they'll come out with something. Hell, if I knew how to make plastics and whatnot, I would be creating a prototype right this second to sell. With all the negative things I've heard about that taillight location, I would be rich overnight.

Call me stubborn, but I will NOT buy a 2007 until they either change the taillight or I find a suitable aftermarket mod to replace it. Until then, I'm extremely happy with my 06.

What was honda thinking?

track days, of course. how simple this will be to remove for a TD!

dwhite645 -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/23/2006 9:18:28 PM)

Yeah, the whole tail light thing seems a bit strange. I can see it for trackdays, but really, how many people go to the track on a regular basis, or even somewhat often. Probably like 5-10%. I'm sure someone will come up with something, but until then it looks like crap.

cksean -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/24/2006 9:51:56 PM)

track days are just way too expensive for me...[:(]

woodyracing -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/24/2006 11:23:24 PM)

i'm just overall pissed about the 07 RR, I was promised much more (slipper clutch) by someone I know for a fact has ridden the damn thing! actually 2 guys that have ridden it hinted there would be a slipper clutch

the tailight thing doesn't bother me a whole lot, just because if I bought it, it'd be a racebike in less than a week but it definitely doesn't look great

So, do we know for fact there is no slipper clutch? I was thinking that was still unconfirmed? I know there was a Honda press release, but I thought the clutch was not mentioned one way or the other......?

LL1 -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/25/2006 1:00:41 PM)

Pretty strange if they had not mentioned it and it would be there anyways. At least three other big japs have brought it up quite eagerly and why shouldn`they, slipper clutch is a thing worth promoting. Maybe they have not decided yet and if they decide no, my next bike will not be Honda (unless it`s at least $1000 less than Suzuki or Yamaha)... I will not install another slipper clutch if I can purchase a bike with one on stock, it`s a matter of principal here (ok, I look things more from the track rider perspective but slipper clutch is a great thing and safety feature also on road)...besides the K6 Suzuki looks and most importantly handles great, almost like Honda [;)]

But let`s wait, it`s hard to believe they are that stupid at Honda...

after the pedrosa/hayden thing its quite possible that they are

i'm tryin to hunt down josh hayes and get a definite answer on the slipper clutch thing but if they didn't list it in the specs then it probably won't be there

Oh yes, because as we all know, the ego of two men who ride for repsol honda on a factory sponsored bike, which really isn't what the 600rr is at all, is definitely a show of the people who market and manufacture the consumer supersport bike... [&:]

Look, 90% of you whack jobs will never need a slipper. it's just something else on the bike that you can say came from racing technology... just like the RR at the end of the name.

Why is it that people are willing to do all sorts of things to make their bikes look like racebikes???? Everything from removing mirrors, removing lights, all sorts of race stickers, stupid fender eliminators that put the license plate in a precarious positions to all sorts of various engine and performance mods. And then even go so far as to make some of the most stupidest decision on the street involving speed.

But then when it comes to the one (AND ONLY ONE) thing that will truly make your bike look like a racebike, people get into all sorts of hissy fits??? Of course that one thing that will make your bike look like a racebike is to to RIDE IT ON THE TRACK!!

As someone has already said, that's the purpose of this particular "feature". To make it easy to take to the track. Why don't you guys just take advantage of that. [sm=goodidea.gif]

Blue Fox -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/25/2006 7:30:40 PM)

Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT idea (for people that LIVE at the track), but I'm riding it to work/college/around town 95% of the time.....and the taillight location on the 2007's LOOK AS ULGY AS SIN! I attend track days usually once or twice a month. Other than that, I'm on the street putting on 1500-2000 miles a month on my bike. I rather tape up the taillight for that little 5% time at the track than have an ugly rear end 95% of the time. - But that's just my opinion.

rjmech -> RE: 2007 cbr 600rr (10/25/2006 7:55:10 PM)

Abadfish, isn't it a little funny that you are calling people and the opinions that they have stupid when you use the phrase "some of the most stupidest decision"? Most stupidest..........WOW!

so what's your point??? [sm=icon_blah.gif] 'cause you obviously missed mine. But whatever...I never claimed to be an expert in grammar. You obviously don't agree with me. That's fine.
