Ok, have a service question..should be an easy one.. I just bought my 02 F4i 2 months ago..Just took it to the shop the other day, got new tires, new battery, safety inspection, had them look over everything to see if anything needed to be done..The bike only has 2400 miles on it, what i need to know is when the weather breaks and i really start riding quite frequently, when do i get it serviced again, after how many miles? what should i get checked? what will they do or suppose to do? how many miles should i get approx. to a full tank of gas?? Is there anything i should check after so many miles just to be safe?

Congrats on the bike i ride one also. They say after 600miles to change the oil so if the previous owner did that they oil in your bike has 1800miles on it.But being its a '02 model the oil is proubly old. I would go ahead and change the oil and Im proubly gonna change mine every 3-3.5k miles. I check my chain everyday i ride and the air pressure in my tires every 2 fill ups. Gas mileage depends on your riding style but i think im gettin about 150-200 miles on a tank (i fill up when the gas light thing starts and it will hold about 4gals and i think the cap. is like 4.9gals) Plus before everyride visually and listen for anything "odd" ex. a panel sticking out a little(might be a loose bolt), funny noises comeing from engine(in my case was a cam tensinor prob.) any spots of oil, coolant, fuel, brake fluid, etc. on the ground underneth the bike. And you should be ok. Im sure theres more but i just got back from class and my brain is shot. So i'll let the rest the ppl on here finsh up 4 me.

Congrats on the bike! You definitely have your priorities right -- maintenance makes the wheels go round.

Honda ought to set you up with an owners manual for free -- if not check with the previous owner. Owners manual has all the maintenance intervals in it.

Whoa, 150-200 miles on a tank ?!?!?

I'm getting about 115m consistantly. Not all highway, and we do get to ride faster here in Cali. But damn, that's a huge drop in efficiency. Anyone else have those numbers ?? I fill up when the reserve indicator comes on.

Fuel injected to save the planet, trees, etc in 2001 but the fuel economy was shocking compared to the FX/Y the last of the carb bikes returned up to 10mpg more! I'll be using mines sparingly for commuting as I live 35miles from work and my car does 50mpg!
