Change your gearing to 520 with 15/45 sprockets and go with a HRC 1/6 turn throttle.

ORIGINAL: NC CBR1K ive been riding for years, most likely a lot longer than you (Tahoe) All i wanted to know is there anything to do to it, to make it a little more responsive what does riding longer than me have anything to do with your bike not being fast enough? it's obvious that if the 1KRR isn't fast enough for you then you need a drag bike...and if you say your bike isn't 'fast' enough for you and you don't really know what to do to make it faster...then you HAVEN'T been riding longer than me... with riding years comes know how of bikes...and if you have none...not even to know a simple gearing swap...then one would suspect that you haven't been riding that long...or belong to the weekend starbucks warrior clan... if you wanted to go 'faster', as in monkey straight speed, then you should've gotten a bigger bike...

I totally feel your pain. I've gotten bored with every bike I've owned and keep searching for something that accelerates harder. Problem is in my opinion is that they gear these bikes to the moon from the factory so that they can reach 180 or so. I've dropped my front sprocket by one tooth and added three to the rear just to give mine some more zipp, but now I'm riding the highways at 7000 rpm or more all the time. I wish they would give these things shorter gearing and then give it a taller 6th or 7th gear for highway use. Turbo isn't safe for knee dragging and NOS is useless the 99% of the time that you're not using it.... I've been doing some searching and there are a couple of companies that claim to be able to blueprint and fine tune these things for about 20% more power everywhere. Anyone ever try this? And my last bike was a zx11. Got bored with it too.

What about different cam and pistons. To be honest mine is not boring. Gives me my shot of adreline when I need it. Hats off to turbo that thing. Might as well extend the swing arm too. Turbo 1000rr front wheel will most likely not stay on the ground that long. But hey happy hunting for those mods Semper Fi 0369

I think, people can get used to anything with time. I bought my 1k about a month ago and I already got used to it's acceleration in a straight line(my balls were not big enough to open up to the red line when I just got it). If you want to make your bike faster then go for it, it will keep you busy for sometime, but agane it won't be enough fo you. When is enough? Probably when accelerating ability of the bike will outcome its traction, start popping weeles at any gear. Then you would probably want to get a long swing arm to keep front tire on the ground. Or then you will have a problem to hang on the bike, when bike's acceleration will be more than you can actually handle, it will pull itself from under you. My point is you will get used to any performance mods you put on your bike, with time it would feel like stock agane. To me, speed it's not where all the fun is at. Riding with friends, fixing it, going places, twisties, learning about it, being on this forum that's fun. Of course I ride fast sometimes, very often, but if bike was slower than it's now, I would not get bored. And that comment about Weekend Starbucks Warrior Clan, made me laugh a lot, I guess because I was not riding for long enough to hear it before.

NC CBR1K: Just curious, why did you get the CBR in the first place? Did you buy it just for the speed or because you wanted to take on some twisties? Personally, riding on the highway and going straight is boring. I don't care how fast I am accelerating. Yeah, I get a little thrill when I take off hard from a stop light and do some highspeed shifting, but that gets old too. What I really enjoy is taking the corners. For me, hanging off the bike and taking the corner at some reasonable speed is extremely fun, and challenging because there are a lot of things involved in that kind of manuvering. If you're main desire is to accelerate hard, maybe you are in the wrong sport. I am not trying to be a smart-ass, but maybe you should really look at pure power bikes that people modify for drag racing. I saw an article in Feb 2005 Sport Rider Magazine, that featured Kawasaki ZRX1200 that was supercharged. This thing was producing 200 HP at 10250 RPM, and 109.2 Ft-lbs of torque at 8000 RPM.
