When I was buying my wife a bike, my buddy that works at a HD dealership talked me into test riding a used Sportster.  I didn't want to get her anything to powerful for her first bike, so I thought what the heck.  My feet and hands were numb/tingling after 15 mins on that thnig and the handling was awful.

I immediately went to the Honda dealership and got her a Shadow.

100th Anniversary H-D heritage with all the screamin eagle crap and 30k in "upgrades".  Shook so bad at idle it about threw me off. Had squeaks, pings and all sorts of noise from the body(when you could hear it over the loudest pipes I have ever heard). My ears hurt like 2 minutes after I started it. Accelerated like a honda accord 4 cylinder and still shook till about 4 grand on the tach when it would finally smooth out, but then would redline at only 6k, 6k! My bike starts coming alive at 6k and this one starts falling on its face. Its was huge, weighed as much as a new goldwing, but had no balance and would pull towards the right when just sitting. Actually driving in a straight line it was ok, but cornering I've seen M1A1 abrams corner better. All show, no go.
Customers of mine, he loved it so much, saved for 15 years to get it.
So I asked him to go for a canyon drive with me on my bike :). He bought a cbr1000rr 2 days later. After he tried to wheeley his harley and had me drag race him 5-6 times. He then rode mine and came back with "Thats the Biggest Boner I've got on any bike since I started riding." Crazy guy, funny as hell. Still owns the harley  for driving long distances with his kids and the image. But when his friends are gone or he wants to go fast, there he is on his cbr with chaps and a hd jacket and all. Funny as hell.

I'd have to say my old Suzuki GS500. No power and it had a crappy banana seat.

Hey:

I am Amazed how many people thing that HDs are so bad, I guess its because we actually ride
them other places than around the block or down the interstate. I didn't intend for this to be a HD bashing
but you gotta wonder why there is so many on the road. I rode a heritage evo classic and a nightrain
recently both were ok, a big improvement over the last one I rode but wow 20 grand each, I guess they
are just not for me. I could own a cbr1100xx and cbr1000rr for that and still have money for gas and good
performance pipes, or 1 real hot 1kRR. Each to their own, I guess I'll just stick to my old CBR and be happy.

I rented a DT125 while I was in the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago...went off roading with a buddy which was a blast until I took a corner to fast in the mud and had to drop the bike....Clutch lever snapped in half right by the cable...Luckily I took it to a bike shop (not where I rented from, they would have emptied my wallet) and they fixed it for 40peso==$1.20

Thanks to whomever made dirtbikes so easy to shift with out the clutch!

I lived in England for 25 years and saw all kinds of bikes there that we don't get over here, not all of them great. Buddy got a VFR400 in (he bought and sold bikes) and I told him to keep it for me. He brought it over for a test drive and off I went. Maybe it was because I've mostly had big bikes, but that thing was gutless unless you rode the hell out of it. Now that's not not a bad thing, except if you only have one bike. If you have to commute, ride in town, etc., you can't always go flat out. If you ever rode a two stroke with a narrow power band, you know what I mean. If you didn't keep it in the band, it just dropped off to nothing! I found myself having to drop down 2 gears to get any speed back up at all. The fact that it ran out of gas miles from home and me in full leathers didn't help. The second worst was a Suzuki GS500 four, a Mexican grey import to the UK. It made the VFR feel like a rocket! Bought an old XS1100, at least it had some power!

I agree that the Sportster 883 is a suck ass bike-my Gandpa has one-all bling no zing.  The worst bike I have been on has to be my buddys 06 Katana 600.  The bike is slow, very soft and looks like a big blue bug.  His buddy has a Zongshen 250 GS and it's a good looking little bike has more brakes then it needs and is not priced bad, but the 230cc single cylinder that make like 12HP or something is not good and it don't help that it's only a 5 speed.  They say the top speed is 80mph on it and I have had it to about 70 ( took forever) and I was done with that run LOL!  The thing sounds like a small qaud.  I rate it better then the Katana since it cost alot less and looks much better.
