You can get off of the road in a quite a few places. Just because most people skip over the shoulder on their way out (when people wreck) doesn't mean there isn't one. The only thing that I would caution you about is not to appear that you may have wrecked in any way. Before you know it there will be 20 people slowing down to see if you are OK or need help . You should check out that Killboy's website. He gets great shots, I'm sure he'll tell you where to get the best pics, he seems like a pretty nice guy. When you go up there don't miss the rides in and around the Dragon. The scenery is breathtaking. I'm going to be putting the pics I take on my Myspace page.

I'm going to the Dragon next month, from may 14-18 with my crew from SoFla. I've never been there before, but damn it looks like soooo sweet!! I can't wait!  After that I'm continuing on a massive roadtrip, to Cheaseapeake Bay, VA to go across the 20 mile bridge, then some backroads through VA and WV, up into Ohio to visit a friend there, over to Chicago to visit my mom, central IL to see my sister, then make my way back home, stopping in Atlanta to see another friend. Should be a good 4000 miles or so on the bike in 15 days!

Just wanted to plug Wheeler's Cycle shop and put out an update on the Dragon. You can get your machine dynoed at Wheelers for $20.00!!! I've never seen it so cheap (mine came in at just over 94hp to the wheel). Also a great place to wash your bike for free and get parts and Dragon stuff. Great people!!!
This year at the Dragon we started seeing the police in the corners. Usually they wait at the overlook and clock people comming out of the last straight. Be careful, they are using bike cops throughout the Dragon on the pullovers. Saw quite a bit of enforcement down by the water on the way to Wheelers. Bikes pulled over and written everytime I went down there. Enforcement starts at about Tapaco Lodge all the way to Wheelers. When you see the police, it's a good time to hit one of the secondary roads or take a break.
Also checked out Whya road (I know that's not the spelling but can't find the correct spelling now that I want to write about it). Turns and road conditions are sub standard when compared to the Dragon. I talked to one of the locals fishing and he said that there is a turn by the school on that road that goes up to a mountain lake. Sounds beautiful, might be a good place to do a picnic and swiming. Saw the waterfall from the lake cascading down 90+ feet into the river in the valley, one of the best pics we got.
If you haven't done this road you should. It's great!!! Just keep in mind, ride 80%, it's not a track. Stay humble and keep your bike shiny.

Not long ago, (May 19-24), three of us went to tour GA, TN, SC, and NC. It was absolutely the most awesome time I ever had on a motorcycle. I took my 94 CBR1000F-R. It had only 6,800 miles on it. We stayed in Clayton, GA just across from screamer mountain. SR73 west (or east) out of clayton was a great warm up road on the way up to two wheels only just outside of 180 going up or down blood mountain.
My friend and I, trailered the bikes down from Central New York, and my older brother trailered his 05 BMW R1200s, and 02 Aprilia Mille Factory R up from Sarasota Florida. We not only did the gap 5 or 6 times on second day of our trip, and about 8 times on the second day of our trip. The first day we even did it in the rain. Tires make a huge difference in how your confidence can be established. I went with a new set of Bridgestone BT014 Ultra High Performance. Even though my bike is 100 lbs heavier than either of my brother, or my friends 97 TL1000S, it stuck.
We ended up doing many other roads like weeyah road, sr73, sr180, cherohola skyway, and even up into gatlenburgh (spelling??). Total miles were 1,043 in 4 days on sport bikes. My bike, besides my brothers beamer was the most comfortable bike I have ever had which I felt had a good all around package of comfort, power, and handling.
I am planning to go back down at the end of august because I am an official twisty junkie now. I have only found 2 roads within a 100 mile radius of where I live that is about only 40% of the intensity and focus levels that the above roads require.
I miss that place...must be M.S.D. disease. (MOUTAIN SEPARATION DEPRESSION)... HAHAHAA.
