hey i was just looking through ebay and some guy says he has a 190 tire on his f3. i put a 170 on mine because i wasnt sure that even a 180 would fit. anyone else ever try to put a 190 or 180 on. what kind of clearance do you get.

If you have the tire hugger on, it will not fit. even if it will; it will make your bike handle funny and be dangerous if you ever get it banked way over. The 190 tire is designed for a 6" rim the F3 has a 4.5" rear rim...if you make it fit it will pinch the sidewall in very steeply and if you get banked over it can possibly, just immediately and without warning, lose traction due to the extreme angle of the sidewall

Now if that person grafted a CBR900RR or a (@(wheel in place of the stock rear rim, then the tire will make sense..but then the weight of the bigger wheel/tire will slow the accelration and handling down

A 190 tire will look cooler, but handle worse. Leave that to the chopper riders. Here's info from the experts: http://sportrider.com/tech/tires/146_0206_size/.

yea i kinda thought that guy was full of it. i recently bought an old 1000 hurricane and the previous owner had squeezed a 170 onto the 4.5 inch rim. looked terrible and i didnt even ride with that tire on there. i went from a 160 to a 170 on my f3 and i couldnt tell any difference in handling around town anyway plus it did make it look better with some more meat on the back.

a 190 is nice if you do rolling burn outs or stand up donuts u can tell a little differents betewn them on the strret i rolled one all last summer on my f3 but would not do it on a f2 because it has a 4.5 inch rear rim it jack the back of the bike up real high
