Sorry boys but that ain't KPH it's MPH and was garnered through gearing and turbo charging of an Hayabusa.

hey, if i can't keep up with you, at least i can talk shit. i didn't mean for what i to be taken seriously, i was just adding to Fretless33 joke. we're all friends here, i hope he was kidding too. i've only made it to just below 120 mark, my wallet and career always talks me out of it. the bad thing is 120 still feels like 80, just faster blurs of color zipping by. i love to have a place where i can test where my nerves hold me back.

No harm, no foul ... I figured you were funnin me When I made that run I had no idea how fast it was but knew it was damn fast. Wasn't until I hit the recall button that I found out -- I was like, coooool!

And my numbers, while cool to me, are puny. An aquaintance of mine, John Noonan, got his Busa over 250mph. He also has the salt flat record. Super nice guy -- sent me some high dollar sensor parts for a reasonable price

My only insight to you guys would be that the faster you get going the more differently the bike handles. Somewhere around 170ish the front end feels heavy -- like steering with a flat. It's the wheels acting like a gyroscope and it's a real beeyatch when you decide to change directions. So make sure the road is as empty as possible and have fun -- but be careful.

Seems to be alot of BS talk in here, a 600rr should be around 160 top and a 1000rr around 180 top actual speeds not misreading speedo`s, I`ve had 182mph from mine and its stock gearing has a limiter in 6th so you can`t go above 10500revs (11500 Redline)
Stock speedo`s can read out by up to 10%, so if it was out by the maximium amount i was doing 163.8.
But its still not gonna mean anything to ya until your next to someone else and there giving it some too, and in all but very rare places thats gonna get ya killed on public roads.

When a car is tested for top speed, an average speed between North and South or East and West determines the top speed. This offsets any difference in wind. You could go 10MPH faster with the wind at your back and 10MPH slower with a headwind. I suspect most speedometers at 160MPH could be off by up to 10MPH.

I would suggest checking the road for potholes and debris before risking your life at 160MPH on a public road. Especially you southern state riders in States like Mississippi. Those roads can be a challenge for even a Hummer. A dirtbike would be a better choice for those states.

When i was stock i had the speedo reading 168 which is gonna be off from actual and just to show how much farther a sprocket can through it off ive had the speedo reading 178. I have -1 in the front and that was bounced off the rev limiter in sixth. I loved every second of it too.

i never have understood people stating you have a good wind from behind.......back wind....... geez if you are going 160MPH do you think the wind is pushing you...if it is the houses and trees are going to be going just as fast as you. if your going 160+ the only wind you have is wind from the from slowing you down....its called resistance.

As little as 5mph breeze makes a huge difference at speed. From the side it can scare the crap out of you. And while it's true that at 160mph you've got quite a lot of wind hitting you straight on it's also true that if you've got a 10mph headwind it'll slow you down. A 10mph tailwind will give you a couple extra mph if you aren't already exceeding the gearing capabilities of your bike.

Study up on your aerodynamics! Chainstretcher is right, If you have a tail wind then you have less resistance compared to a no wind environment providing the power and the parasite drag on the item being propelled is equal. The opposite is true if you have a head wind.

Top speed shmop schmeed. Who cares what speed you can do? And anyway why do you guys when you get to 120+ start looking at your speedo? Crikey boys anything could happen in a split at that speed. I think if ya wanna prove your speed then go do a trackday, everyone can ride fast in a straight line but not everyone can ride fast round a track!

I can testify to that and have a bizarre story that I caused by glancing at my speedo at 137 mph approaching a sweeping turn. My rule as of a few months ago is no triple digits on the streets...period!

I almost gave up sportbikes because of my stupidity!

Believe me or not this miraculous event really did happen! Here's the link if you're interested in reading about it:
