I am giong from FL to the mountains next week and I wonder if someone could tell me what settings or adustments I should make to my PCIII for the change in altitude. This is my first power commander so I am not even sure how to use the 3 buttons on the front of the unit. I did the accelerator mod and set it with my laptop. It runs great here but not sure about the altitude differance and thinner air.

when you get there, use the little plug to adjust it there... buy that little plug thing so you can hook it up to any computer and do it... you'll either need to lean it out, or richen it... i cant remember... are you going up or down altitude?

Get on the PC site and shoot them an e-mail. I'm 90% sure that the PCIII uses the bikes sensors (IAT, IAP etc) to adjust to conditions but don't remember where I got this information. I've been from just east of Atlanta (800 ft) to the North GA mountains with no problems at all on a PC'd bike.

I went up to mt charleston, and my bike barely started.... I can clutch up second like its nothing... and when i was up there, it would bog out, and wouldnt come up, i had to preload hard and clutch in 2ND GEAR! to get it up good... I never had to do that... and tahts only 8,000 feet higher than i am... (is that a big difference?) lol...

This was the response I got back when I emailed my question to the Power Commander Techs.

On fuel-injected bikes, it is not necessary to make adjustments for altitude. The bike has sensors that compensate for altitude, temp, etc.

I was going to say exactly what Dyno Jet told you because cars with EFI work the same way. I should have spoken up even though I don't have any real credibility when it comes to bike maintenance. Bottom line, it is nice to know that the computers will compensate.
