The only thing I don't like about this is the bikes used. Enjoy trying, take your time and be safe.

I have been practicing.  I finally can consistently get it up on power.  I brought it up high yesterday, to the lower portion of the balancing point, but it scared me so i didnt try to hold it.  I still cant manage to get it up from the clutch.  In 2nd gear, about what rpms and speed should i be at when slipping?

From my own experience on a 954 with stock gearing, I am in second gear and get the rpm right around 5 or 6k. Then while standing a light slip of the clutch and twist of the throttle and it comes up very smooth. Once it is up on balance it is at about 7 to 8k rpm. I have not been able to get it up in second without using the clutch, but I think it is because I am 6'5'' and weigh 200lbs give or take a few. I used a road with a slight incline for paracticing mine. It made it quite a bit easier. Good luck with that.

I always wondered that myself until I just kept getting farther and farther back until it felt like the bike was just coasting. Another thing that I found really helpful was doing wheelies on my trials or dirt bike. The trials bike worked really well because it only has 4 psi in the rear tire. The low pressure gives it the going up an incline kinda feeling. I am not saying you should lower your tire pressure or anything, my point is I used a bike that was a lot more inexpensive to fix in case I looped out. If you have a dirt bike or something, I would definatly use it to get an understanding of that feeling. That is what a lot of my buddies have done to.

before i had the extended swingarm when i would ride wheelies in 1st or 2nd i wouldnt use the clutch until i wanted to bring it up over 55mph. found out the hard way that clutch wheelies in excess of 95mph will in fact blow out the 954 clutch basket also a friend of my blew out his basket at 45 pulling up while sitting on his gas tank .. like a few people have said 2nd gear 5000rpm blast the throttle for a second and ride it out.. i really really suggest you get a wheelie bar for you bike even if you dont get a crash crage. if you need an engine i bought one from estate motor cars ,,,, a large engine dealer in new york and even had it shipped to alaska for only 1400$ i hope you never need one but if you do they are a trustworthy dealer.

with stock gearing once you get used to the bike clutchless will work fine until you get to 45 50

I would not expect a slight slip of the clutch at 5k-6k to do very much damage at all. It is not like the bike is being redlined and then having the clutch dumped. Now that I could see that being damaging to not only the clutch but the engine as well. With respect to your experiences and what you have said, I am going to have to remain kinda skeptical on this. The only reason is I have not really heard of this happening. I somewhat baby my bike and am actually curious as how damaging it can be to do occasional wheelies. I have heard that being on one wheel for an extended distance can cause the engine to not get the oil it is supposed to, seeing the oil is at the back of the pan. I am sure that there are some bad ass riders out there who can do a lot more damage to a bike just by riding it to it's limits on a track. Thanks for the info on where to get an engine, you never know!
You say clutch less till 45 50, is that in first or sec?
That titanium looks sweet!

im wouldnt say the 954 basket is flawed but i think it may be weaker than other bikes .. my clutch went out from serious wear and tear as did my friends. i did a few hundred wheelies at that point and like i said i was trying to pull it up while hauling ass. in fact it did pull up and come on plane before i heard bee's buzzing around my engine.. but 1st or 2nd no clutch .. im more comfortable in second from 35-45 though.
