I looked around and didn't like any of the fender elimination kits available. I don't like the ones that smack the hugger or the ones that hose clamp to the exhaust. I work around a sheet metal shop and drew up one I thought would look good. I used 16 gauge aluminum and made one that will fasten back to the original bracket. I like the grey cover and black plastic that covers the exhaust so I wanted to utilize it. I live in the Peoples Republic of Virginia (making fun of the weird and strict laws) and wanted to comply with the signals and license plate light laws as well. I reused the original license plate light, but I took off the extensions so that it only sticks out an inch and three quarters. For now, I have re-mounted the stock turn signals. All I would have to do is remove them and use carriage bolts (round head with teeth on the bottom to grip) that black to mount the bracket and hide the holes for the turn signals. That is my question. How does this look with the stock signals? I had planned on the integrated tail light and removing them, but I've had a few people tell me it looks great like this. I haven't seen kits like this, so I'm wondering if I'm the odd ball here. This method may work for people like me that live in difficult states with inspections by nazis. I went the one of your inspections shops to verify if the integrated tail light would pass here, it will but I was told they would already fail me because I had removed the cheap plastic red reflectors from under the seat and the forks. Look at the pics and let me know if you feel I should keep the stock signals or go with just the integrated tail light. Thanks.

Personally, I don't like the stock turn signals. I only really like to see the exhaust and rear tire in the back. I also have the clear alternatives integrated taillight on mine, and they 're pretty bright. Easy to install too, and I'm no mechanic.

That was one of my questions, how bright are the amber turn signals on the clear alternatives integrated taillight? I'm still going to order it and add it for extra attention.

Actually the clear alternatives turn signals blink more of a yellow color. And I mean yellow yellow. In my opinion they're bright enough. I do think though, that the brake light doesn't shine as bright as the stock one. It also comes with a resistor something or other that helps slow down the blinking because without it, the lights blink a bit faster than normal. Some short stalks would be a good idea to though to help keep it a bit cleaner while giving drivers extra attention. I've seen some pretty cool short stalks. You might want to also look at the UFO tailight integrator. http://www.hightechspeed.com/index.shtml, but this is only a replacement circuit board to replace the stock circuit board. It seems like a pain to install it, since you have to cut off your existing lense, plus its expensive. But this oozes extra attention.

The UFO adds a lot of different options, looks cool. What did you mean "cut" off the existing lens? How do you put it back together? And you're right, too pricy for a damn tail light.

So the clear alternatives integrated tail light is a complete taillight that replaces the stock taillight. With the UFO taillight, you remove your stock piece, get a dremmel tool, and cut around the edge of the clear lense so that you can access the circuit board which controls the brake light. You then insert the UFO circuit board, which has a bunch of different blink settings, solder the wires that it comes with, and then put the clear lense back on. You will have to reseal the lense of course. So that's why I say it's a pain. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, you make sense but the UFO doesn't sound like the light for me. It looks great, but I don't like the sound of GLUEING my bike back together. I'm good with electronics and soldering and it would be a good deal if the tail light was bolted together, but cutting it apart and using glue? Thanks for the tip, I wished I could use it.
