Shift forks are probably shot -- sorry dude but that's a bit of $$ to repair.

Brad: The Haynes manual lists a bunch of things that could cause jumping out of gear. Detent arm assembly worn or damaged. Gear pinion dogs worn or damaged. Shift forks, gearshift drum and pinion grooves worn. Gear pinions, bushes, and shafts worn. Bent gearshift shaft. And Gear pinion tooth broken. Onfire: Could that be the rear brake light wire?

chain stretcher is probably right, very expensive to get fixed. It would be cheaper and eaiser to get a whole motor of ebay and just drop it in your self if the tranny is in fact messed up.
