Hey guys im new to the forum but ive had my CBR 1000F for a while now. I put a set of tires on it in the beginning of the summer. As of right now, ive put 8 thousand miles on the set and the front tire is wearing really weird and it has alot of uneven spots on it which is starting to make for a bumpy ride. The rear tire is okay but is wearing in the center more and I think it should. I dont act stupid with it and do burn outs...so thats ruled out for the center wearing out of the rear tire. Im runnin D-208 (Qualifyer's) by Dunlop, 180 on the rear and 120 on the front. Could the forks need service work done to fix the problem with the front tire cupping like it is? Are there any tires that would better suit this bike then what have now? I ride alot so I dont know if a touring style tire would be better or not. Any help is appreciated.

CBR's cup the fronts. My 941000f does, and I have read about it over and over, though the years. Things to check... front wheel bearings, headstock ,slider bushings, tire rebalance after a few thou, tire preasures. The mileage of 8k, dosen't seem too bad, my azzaro's are about gone w/a little more than 8k, riding sorta hard w/ alot of wieght (me). The 1000f's aren't lite. I think the rears are always going to center wear, sooner than the fronts. Clean and free, Ripp'n

8000 miles isn't too bad for a set of tires on one of these bikes. I got 9300 miles (15000km where I am) out of a set of Metzeler Z6, and I really should have changed them earlier as the front was cupped quite badly, and the back was flat around the centre.
My daily ride to work is mostly on fairly straight roads and I think the camber causes the cupping. If I have time I go the bendy way, just to even out tyre wear of course. Tyre pressure is the main factor I think. I run 36psi front, and 42psi rear, and check them often!
I'm running Michellin Pilot Roads (not sport!) at the moment and I have no sign of cupping yet, so I think they might be the go. They are dual compound (harder around the centre and softer on the sides), and I can't fault the grip or the feel.
I know it hurts ($$$$), but with a heavy, powerful bike like ours, the tyres do cop a fair flogging even if we try and be sensible.
Give the Pilots a shot, as I know other guys here who swear by them after trying many others.

First off, in my opinion you've already got your moneys worth out of those tires. 8000 miles?!? Shoot, I'm lucky to get 5k out of mine. Had Metz M1's before, now I have Pilot Powers. Anyway, make sure that front is the right size. Once I tried running a 120/65 instead of a 120/70 and it would cup on the sides. So bad to as to leave the near edge of the tire worn out while near the middle and at the very edge there was still tread....

thanx man..ill be sure to check out those factors. I really forgot that about 2 mojnths ago I had a wheel weight fall off and I never fixed it. Thats gotta be it.
