i got an 05 cbr 1000rr and im having trouble with the battery charging , the battery is under warrenty but they wanna keep it for almost 3 weeks , i have a buddy who works at the delaler ship who said if i can figure out what the problem is with the bike he can just order me the part under warrenty . so i was seeing if anyone could give me some info on how to find out what the problem on my bike could be. So far ive changed the battery just to see if the battery could have had a defect but that hasnt worked . the only other thing i did which i dont know if it means anything but i turned the bike on and then pulled the power wire off of the power terminal on the battery and the bike died right out which was telling me the bike is pretty much running on all battery . im not sure if that is how the bike works or not but if anyone could help me out with some info that would be excellent . i would greatly appreciate any info anyone could throw at me . thanks alot. My email is newcgadget@yahoo.com if anyone cares to email me thanks

DON'T SCREW WITH THE BATTERY CABLES WHILE THE IGNITION IS ON OR THE BIKE IS RUNNING!!!!! The bike will not run when the battery is not in the circuit. Do not try to run it that way -- could screw up the 'brain'. To test start the bike and place a voltmeter on the battery cables. At idle it should read between 12-13 volts. Run it to 5000rpm and hold -- should read between 13-15volts. If it isn't then you probably have a bad rectifier or stator. If it's charging correctly then you have something draining the battery with the ignition off.

LOVE THIS GUY, Knows all! You should come work for our shop were opening here... for real lol..

Chainstretcher is right.
As far as them saying 3 weeks, I dont know man. our shop slams out like 50+ bikes a day for ALL different problems... And if you bitch hard enough, they will get you in

How long have you had your bike for? Second here in vegas there is a 30 day lemon law, and other laws that protect you against things like this... so you tell them if you dont find the problem out within a week, I want my money back. plain and simple.. pull out the stops, be a dick, and when alls said and done... THANK THEM, and tell them sorry, I just couldnt wait that long... you'll still be cool with them.

hey i took the stator out myself and man is it fried , Now i have a question , if i were to take the stator to my local shop and told them that is the problem with my bike you think they would order me one ? i honestly doubt it because they did not work on it .

Superbikesupply , what does the cost of a stator usually run ? is there anyway u can cover it under my warrenty ? i have the 5 year extended warrenty on my bike and ive had my bike for 2 and a half months almost .

thanks for all ur help guys its helped me alot.
