Hey guys, I'm new to the road-racing world and I'm looking for some more help on building my first bike.
2001 600f4i -
1.Do racers run a factory thermostat or some sort of a restrictor plate in place of the thermostat?

2.Does anyone have technical info. on how-to fabricate a catch can for the pcv evap hose and the other hoses and drains that need to be routed into a catch can?

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks again, Kaine T.

what org will you be racing with?
most don't require catch cans, they usually just require a lower fairing that will hold fluid (all race bodywork does this)

as far as the thermostat, i've never messed with it
not sure why you would?

Thank you. I'll be joining CRA and possibly CCS.

I had no idea on the thermostat - I was just asking.

My friend was the one who advised the catch can's had to be fabricated and installed. He states he saw several bikes at a CRA race that had them????

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

The CRA.... pht..... Go with CCS, More tracks + More race dates = More fun!   J/K  The CRA guys are great as well!

You must be a fellow MN or WI rider?

Run the stock thermostat, no reason what so ever to change it out.

The stock coolant overflow tank & crankcase vent that runs into the airbox satify the requirement for catch cans.  Also as long as the rest of the overflow hoses run into your enclosed lower fairing you'll run thru tech no problem.  I do know some guys that add a second catch can, usually made out plastic bottle mounted under the tail, but it's really not necessary on any of the newer bikes.
