Well, I had a few people PM me about how to make the 600RR seats feel better for those long rides, or for those who seats are too hard for them. And this is my version of it, and it saves a few hundred buck as apposed to the Corbin and Sergants Seat. Now, I am not saying either of those are bad, because they are comfortable, but I dont want to pay $300 or $400 for one. Sorry, I dont have any pictures right now, but here is a step by stem of what I did for now.

Materials
Flathead Screwdriver/Plyers               Foam Padding (See Below)
Stapler                                               Gorilla Glue/Super Glue
Sandpaper (Optional)                         Rubbing Alcohol
Sharpie                                              Vinyl Covering
Bicycle Gel Seat Pad (If you want a gel insert)

[1]. Take off Seats from Bike
[2]. Use Flat Head Screwdriver/Plyers to remove staples from the seats and remove vinyl
[3]. Remove the stock padding. Mine was glued down pretty good, so you can use a razor or putty knife to remove the seat from the plastic.
[4 Optional]. Use sandpaper to remove all the glue and foam residue on the plastic and clean with alcohol
[5]. Place down foam and place seat, top down, on foam.
[6]. Use sharpie to outline the seat.
[7]. Cut foam about 1/2 inch in from the line drawn.
[8]. **Glue foam onto plastic seat.
[9]. Place new vinyl covering onto seat and staple back down to plastic.
[10] Done, reapply seat.

**You can also by some gel inserts or gel material from Michaels or eBay or a bicycle gel seat cover and open it and hollow out a little bit of the center of the foam and place that in there for a gel seat feeling.

Total cost - Around $25-35 depending on what you buy.

just a question i hadnt rode for 4 1/2 months and then being a previous r6 owner and now a 600rr owner i noticed that after the "6" hour trip i took home from alabama that my ass hurt "haha i know sounds funny" but seriously i never had this with the r6 and was wondering if u just get used to the rr or if it really is a horrible design? and i was just out of riding shape?

Some say both, Thats why I did this to my seat so it wouldnt be as uncomfortable. There isnt much padding there, and I dont think the design is all that great, but then again, it is "a track bike" so I guess it really isnt made for that.

I find that the design is what is the issue. It feels like the front of the seat is wider than many other bikes and
the rear of the seat has very little shape or padding.

I have my eyes open for a custom seat, but will give this a try first to see if it helps.
Thanks.

What foam did you get? Soft foam will just collapse while hard foam... will be hard :P

Memory foam, put in on top in the stock seat. Then recover.

That's where I get my headliner material when I recover door panels and, well, headliners.

I tried basically this same thing shortly after getting my 1000rr. I added softer foam on top of the factory foam, and recovered using some new vinyl. The foam that I added was too soft...and it looked like a big puffy sofa cushion. I didnt like it so I went back to stock form and just deal with it now....doesnt really bother me much anymore though. I guess after a couple thousand miles your butt gets used to it. I would like to sit on a corbin seat though just to see the difference.
