The local dealer here has a 2000 F4 that I am going to pick up this friday if everything checks out.  They are getting it out of storage for me, they currently have sleds on the sales floor.  I'm not new to buying used bikes I have an idea what I need to keep an eye out for, but my question is:  Are there any things I need to make sure to check out on this specific bike?  Does the F4 have any weaknesses or problematic areas?
Any help is appreciated, I will post up pics if she checks out fine.

no real problems, check on cam chain rattle, and the condition of the down pipes as the latter can be quite expensive to replace, i had rectifier/regulator problems (as do many hondas, so check the charging system is working ok.

Good luck

The CCT is really the only known common problem, other than that you can ride these bikes for all their worth for a long long time.  Honda rules.

I put a deposit on the bike, it seemed pretty good.  When it was running I didn't notice any unusual or extra noise coming from the cam chain area.  I should have it by the begining of Feb, it will be a few months before I can ride it though.  Damn snow!!!

What kind of rec/reg problem did you have?  When i switch on the high beam, or blinkers the quick power drain causes the engine to lose power for a split second then it recovers.  I tested it with a multimeter and the charging system seems fine.  I still can figure out what could be causing this.  Since the big runs of the battery, could it be that the battery just sucks to put it bluntly?
