Looks good.  I can tell there is a lot of wrench time on that bike.

TennesseeCBRF2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/18/2007 1:26:06 AM)

Looks awesome! Looks like you have some nice tools in your garage. On your workbench (the black case with the red drawers) is that a Craftsman set? If it is, I have the same one. How hard was it to do the 900 swap? Is there a how-to post on here somewhere, and if there is can you link to it?

bindelsf2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/18/2007 2:47:19 AM)

thanks. yeah thats the craftsman socket set and two of my toolboxes, i have 2 more on the other wall too and 1 in the basement.(can never have enough) and thats my 67 ford truck that i am doing for pro street... there is not a how to on it but its not that hard. RSP919 and me did it. theres some links on here that we posted but there is one on another site but he notched his frame...big no-no...
http://home.insightbb.com/~cbr600f3/

if you are mechanically inclined at all its not that hard. i did it myself in my living room in a little over a month. just alot of putting it in and taking it out.. the main thing about it was i welded a mount on the right side and you have to cut the rear mount on the left and the rear top mount but that is all the cutting that is required and you cant run a fan on the radiator but i havent had a prob with over heating yet. and you have to make new side mounts and get a new rad. hose.

bindelsf2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/18/2007 2:57:14 AM)

http://www.cbrforum.com/m_175503/tm.htm heres some pics of the swap freshly done..

this is a write up that rsp919 did on the swap and that is all that i had to go by when i started mine...."here it is in a nutshell. mods to the frame: bottom motor mount must be cut off and rewelded to the other side, and the inner frame walls peened or notched( to make room for the carbs, does not take much). after that i made two new side motormount plates, not that hard. i use the stock wiring harness with the 900 blackbox. next u have to mod the airbox to fit the 900 carbs(again, not that hard, just drilling a couple of new holse to line the mounting screws up). you will also need to extend the radiator top hose(very easy, a trip to autozone). that is about it, a little welding, beating, and a shoe horn and u got it. it is a blast when u pass an r1 on a little, outdated f2. my frame is at the powdercoater's this week. i will post some detailed pics in about a week"

also i paid 500 for the 900 engine and then sold my f2 engine for 650.00... then about 180 to the shop to tune it so it doesnt hurt the pocket that much either.. no change to any wiring or coils and the same CDI box too... let me know if you do it and i will offer all the help that i can....also nipz has the swap done too.

bindelsf2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/18/2007 3:00:20 AM)

a lil update.... i found someone to extend the swingarm for 200.00 and its guaranteed for life...(mine or the swingarms???[:(]wonder?) but the only other place that i found that was cheap was 450 to do it,and i am going 10" so i will have pics up next week of that and the rims are being polished right now too.

TennesseeCBRF2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/18/2007 11:25:38 AM)

I want to do it, but I have some hesitations. First, my paint is original and is pretty scratched up. If I did a motor swap I would want new paint, and I'm not sure I want to sink too much money into this bike instead of just buying a new one. Second, I don't know how to weld. Third, I'm not sure if I could do it without someone standing right beside me telling me exactly what to do.
I'm mechanically inclined, but I've never done anything that big before.
I bet it would be satisfying to smoke some fool on a $10k bike with my little $2k F2 though.

bindelsf2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (1/31/2007 2:23:10 AM)

today i got in my rim and tire, i went to a 98 F3 rim (wider) with a 180 tire...
i know i know too wide of tire..... no handling..... blah blah blah ,,,,i like it!

but the rims went out to get powdercoated in graphite grey (polishing them sucks)along with the 10" extended swingarm and the rear pegs... i will post up more pics when i get the rims back....
now the strip needs to open so i can put down some times!!![:@]

Ar15 guy -> RE: new pics of the bike (2/7/2007 6:17:09 PM)

I wouldn't worry about the tire size. Extending it kills the handling also. Mid as well go big so you can get traction.

bindelsf2 -> RE: new pics of the bike (3/20/2007 9:42:27 AM)

another update on the bike...

bought the F3 one-piece tail and seat
got the F3 rear rim and 180 tire on it.
painted the rear sprocket nuts anodized blue
front brake rotor screws blue
rearsets blue with black pegs
polished the swingarm and visible frame
-1/ +2 sprockets
blue neons
did the rims done (they were black)
chrome levers and bar ends
front brake resv. cap blue
red bull on the rear susp. resv.

that should pretty much sum it up,  the fairing are still out being painted and the swingarm ext. is on hold untill the paint gets done.  and  i am making a truly custom chaingaurd  so there will be more to come!!

rsp919 -> RE: new pics of the bike (3/20/2007 2:57:36 PM)

Looking Great. Did u clearcoat where you polished the frame? Just wondering about the rust factor. The blue peg brackets look nice. Powder or anodized? Can't wait to see the new paint. what color and design are you going with? Or is it a suprise?
