I recently bought a 954 rad thinking it would fit my 929. The 954 does have a coolant sensor and has one less inlet (or outlet) on the left side. Has anyone fitted one of these to their 929. Is there a way to make it work? The extra outlet on the 929 rad goes to the oil filter housing. Maybe I could splice it in to the main hose? Why doesnt the 954 have a sensor?

I did the same thing.
Had to have a good alumnimum welder cut the sensor fitting off of the 929 radiator, and attatch it to the 954 radiator.
...and the same with the The extra outlet.
Worked out great and is still working.
Some radiator shops may be able to do this.

that explains alot, for the longest time I couldn't figure out why every time I turned my key on the fan came on also. When I pieced my 2 929's together I noticed that they had different radiators. one is for the 929 and one is for the 954. Lucky for me I have an extra 929 radiator in the garage.

Left side of radiator on the 929  small bung, and a large bung that went to the water pump, the small bung was connected to the oil cooler correct?

left side of radiator on the 954 had one large bung  inbetween the rubber hoses that run to the water pump was a metal hose that had the small bung comming off the side of it. Thats where the oil cooler connected to on the 954's. You can see good pictures of it on ronayers.com.
