Both carbs and fuel injectors can be synched. It's a means of making each cylinder do it's share. You need a set of vacuum gauges or mercury tubes. I use a set of mercury tubes called "Carb Stix", with four long tubes sitting in a mercury supply. I bought it over 20 years ago and with the mercury they might not sell them anymore. Each tube has a rubber hose that connects to a vacuum take-off port on the intake manifold or inner part of each carb. The vacuum from each cylinder pulls up the mercury to a certain height. You turn a screw on each carb to balance out the mercury levels. With vacuum gauges, you bring each carb to the same vacuum number. On my 1000, #2 cylinder is the base and the other three carbs are set to it. Don't try doing it without the mercury sticks or vacuum gauges.
