there are 2 different front stands from pitbull. one uses the steering head and the other cradles the bottom of the forks. 87-90 do have holes on the bottom of the forks. my preference is to lift the front from the steering head tube.

you are talking about this type right? http://preview.tinyurl.com/ywhvgf i was probably going to buy ones for the holes cause they are alot cheaper but i wanted to make sure they would work. i also was not aware the F1 could use the steering head, if im correct on what it is.

i don't know of too many bikes that can't be lifted from the steering head. but the f1 sure can. just remove the horn and that's it. check this pitbull link, they have good pics of various front stands. http://www.pit-bull.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23_177&osCsid=2ae97baf8d0158676cd1d9f633674e4e lifting from the steering head, by that i mean there is a hole under the bottom triple clamp that is used, or to say it another way, the steering tube is hollow. if you plan on using the front stand only, make sure the bike will not have a tendency to roll back.
