I had -1 on the front and went back to stock.

I found that I couldn't really get on the gas in first without kissing the triple clamp, so stock was better, as I spent less time fighting the front end, and could wind the gear out a little longer before shifting.

On my F4i, -1/+2 was great.  On the 954rr, lowering the gear was overkill.  Whatever little gain in acceleration was lost with the wheel coming up and having to shift sooner and more often.

ya exactly how i thought.. it all depends on riding style and expierence... 600's they are def a must do but liter bikes not really needed but all depends on who you are, i also had a scotts steering dampner so that was nice... but for a true performance gain i would get a PCIII with a dyno custom tune

thanks for all the great info guys.  I'm glad I posted about this before I did anything.  I think I will go the power commander route rather than mess with the sprockets.

I have -1/+2 and I am going back to stock as well.  My suggestion if it matters now...looks like you made yours already...is that you do what you are talking about and go with the PCIII first.  Also, I HIGHLY recommend that you have a steering damper on it before you get nutty with the gearing.  I have a good friend that totalled his 929 last spring from a tank slapper and his gearing was the same.  That front wheel just gets so light.  I liked the extra grunt, but I am looking for faster corner speed now and I am not worried about wheelies.  The wheel will come up if you want it to.

Did anyone with the lower gearing notice the fuel mileage drop?  I have two friends with GSXR-1000 and my fuel light was coming on a lot earlier than theirs and it was not the case before I changed the gearing.  I do a lot of long rides, so it can make a difference for me.

Anyway, good luck!

Bobjoe, I definetly will bro.  What did you lay down so I can get an idea of what to expect.   Tpgpz, I heard 954's dont get the best mpg to begin with.

I took my 954 -1 +2 on a whim and found that my riding style had to change just as quick as the gears.  And yes my MPG did drop.  I was getting about 150 miles before reserve and now I get about 120.  The first day out with the new gearing I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground but now it's not a problem.  I would tell anyone new to the liters not to make the mistakes I've made and keep your gearing stock.  Give it time and mileage you'll learn the bike and not get suprised by the difference a little change like this can make.

And follow the advice from the others here.  Get the PC and the dampener first.  You'll get a better and safer ride.

I changed the front -1 only and that was enough to feel it, but as said already it does put your speedo out (I fitted a speedohealer), use more fuel and after having it for over six months I agree with all here that standard is the way to go!

Go the power commander, you'll be happier.

I have a -1 up front and +2 in rear, and i think it is the most efficient setup, great acceleration and great wheelies, on this setup there is about 7-9 miles difference on a speedo

-1 +2 set up makes 1st gear to short and snappy... not really needed for liter bikes minus the r1

That's Ok if your just doing 100km/hr but in Australia 40kms over the speed limit and your licence is gone for six months.....trust me I know...

-1 +2 is short, but it is perfect for riding in Chicago traffic, and wheelies are great to.
