Hi everyone. I had my bike stored away for a while and recently got it running and installed new battery. Took it for a ride and after a few miles noticed smoke from exhaust. Got it back home and now I notice that fuel is shooting out of the exhaust and the bike will not idle. I changed the spark plugs, checked all the coil wires , checked for spark at each and all were fine. I used a temp gun to check the header temps while running the bike and it appears that cylinders 1 and 4 are not firing. The only conclusion I can draw is that there is a problem with the injectors. Any thoughts that might help me out??? I am considering changing the injectors but want to be sure that is the problem. Any way to be sure?? Thanks for any help.

did you put new gas in it? try some injector cleaner in your gas tank, dont use to much.

Start simple...try replacing the plugs first..you said it was in storage and maybe you had some old fuel in the cylinders and when you fired it up it could have fouled the plugs

Thanks for the replies. What I have done so far is to change the spark plugs and to check that each cylinder was getting spark and everything looked ok. I used a infrared heat gun and found that cylinders 1 and 4 are not producing any exhaust. Since they were getting spark, that leads me to the injectors possibly getting varnished and not producing a proper spray pattern. I might just change the injectors but that is a big and somehwhat expensive task so I am not sure if I should proceed. I am kinda stuck here I guess. Any words of advice??? Thanks.

Injectors can get clogged just as easily as carb jets. There's several places that will clean and flow-balance car fuel injectors, so someone should clean bike's. Do a search for fuel injector cleaners and you may be able to find some inexpensive high-pressure kit that can clean your injectors.
