My '91 F2 has almost 34K miles on it, and it's still riding on the stock suspension. With that many miles, the entire front and rear suspension need an overhaul, because the it feels about as soft and wallowy as a '70s Cadillac.

I had a local shop upgrade my Vmax with Racetech springs, Gold valve emulators, and Works Performance rear shocks. Those upgrades (along with the stickiest Avons I could find) made the bike handle far better than a 650lb cruiser ought to. I was considering the same treatment for the F2 but then a thought crossed my mind--what if I could swap in the forks (or perhaps the fork internals) as well as the rear shock from a later model CBR600, say perhaps an F4 or an F4i? Those parts seem to be reasonably plentiful on Ebay and not too terribly expensive either.

The big question simply is: can it be done reasonably easily? (I realize that just about ANY upgrade can be done if enough time and money is thrown at it, but if these upgrades are difficult and expensive, I might as well just go my original route, with parts I know will work.)

Thanks!

May i suggest Progressive front springs....as a cheap upgrade for your CBR......or just take the entire front forks from a 600rr as well .and if its feasible..... i would look at the new Pro-Link rear swing arm off the 600RR...i was told it was way more advanced than our A-arm ..would ever be..i have also seen the VFR 750 single side swing arm on a persons 600.... cannot remember what year it was on though..So in short the suspension on the New 600RR is far superior to our F2's ...good luck with your search and hope it fits if you decide that route

I think at this point I'll probably just look at upgrading the stock fork internals, and then swapping out the rear shocks with something from perhaps an F4i or a 900RR. Since the F2 is my old beater bike, I can't really justify budgeting enough money for a fork swap--I've noticed that forks still command a pretty hefty premium. Probably because most people tend to damage their forks when they go down.

Thanks for the advice!
