My 96 CBR F3 has been sitting in my garage for a little over six months, a week ago I decided to ride on it again but the bike wouldn't start, so I switch out the battery. When I try to start the ignition, It wouldn't work, so i gave it a little gas just to see if i can get it started again, it wouldn't work. The next thing i know is that there's gas leaking out from underneath the bike, lots of them but I was able to start the bike for 3 seconds and it just died out again. I asked most of my mechanic and they told me they don't know what causes this, if they need to take a look, there will be an initial charge for $175 dollars, obviously I don't wanna pay them just to take a look at it. So................ Please Help...... Thanks

if a bike sits for a long period there is a wax build up that will get in the carburators so more than likley they will have to be taken off and cleaned out with carb cleaner... if not then it won't run.... and it won't clean it's self.....

Are you talking about the bike not starting or the gas leaking out? I'd find out where the gas is leaking from first. If it's a carb vent, then you know somethings wrong with the floats, float valve or float seat.

The gas leak and the not starting could very well be a result of the same problem. If the bike sat for long periods you will probably have to at the least pull off the airbox and clean everything with carb cleaner. Chances are you have varnish film from old gas fouling everything up.

Everytime when I try to start the bike, i am able to hear it runs but that won't last a second. Then, I hear and smell gas leaks, they kinda pouring out from underneath the bike.
Should I drain out the old gas first, also how can I clean the carburator?

ya i would get rid of the old gas that would be a good start and to clean the carb's you will have to take them off or atleast thats the best way..... the gas leak kinda sounds like the carbs aren't bolted down all the way and they are overflowing and if they aren't bolted down all the way then that would cause it to act the way it is..... but since it has been sittin for awhile i would clean the carbs anyways.... but thats just my 2 cents......

Definately sounds like stuck floats and or clogged jets. Pull the carbs out and clean em up.
