As I've posted elsewhere before, a mate got 196,000 km out of his 929 just using standard auto oil, with no work at all required on the engine. That said, I use Motul or Shell synth by way of insurance. The rec's in the Haynes manual for the change interval vary, from 6k km to 10 or 12 from memory, depending on whether its a UK or Euro model. No idea why. Above mentioned mate changed the oil when he remebered to.

I have been using Mobil1 MX4T for 5 years and I really like it. However, the local place the I was getting it for $6.99 a quart is not selling it any longer, so I am switching to Repsol Synthetic this year. I will not pay $12.99 per quart for the Mobil1. Also...not sure if I should believe them, but everytime that I go to the Honda Shop, they are insisting that the Honda brand oil is made by Mobil1. I have not found much proof for that statement, so I have not tried it. The Repsol is about $7 something a quart around here, so I will switch in the spring. ...Praying for warm weather in Ohio...
