ORIGINAL: fishnride Those are not good deals. A salvage title means that at some point in its short life, the 06 RR was deemed totalled. Most likely by the same type of person ZJcrawler45 is. Good luck with the whole bike thing ZJcrawler45. We've tried to warn you, and you're not listening, so why even bother anymore... Oh well. Either way, I call dibs on first pick parts. it's amazing, really. I never thought it would be this way. It's like looking at myself 2 years ago, only i took everyone's advice.

Dang you guys are like little kids fighting and what not. The man asked for some prices and some ideas not a lecture. No matter what motorcycle you buy as a first bike its going to be dangerous...you are riding on two wheels on an open road, gravel other things of that nature dont care if you are on a 600 or 250 yur still going to eat it if you hit it wrong. Take the Safety coarse thats a givin. It comes down to the rider and his self control more than anything. Nic~

ORIGINAL: ZJcrawler45 what are all of you talking about salvage bikes? i believe only one of them was a salvage bike. And the others were nice! i just asked what your opininons are on salvage bikes, so i guess its a "stay the heck away from them" kind of deal. Why am i getting discouraged from buying a 600RR? i've learned that it doesn't matter how big the size of the bike is, just wether you can use a clutch and keep the throttle down. As long as you don't gun it, you can ride anything and learn. They're all the same if you dont gun it. I definitely see your point on starting out small, but i seriously think i am past that already. I'm a quik learner and i definitley know my boundaries, exspecially on the street. The problem with that is that it DOES matter the size of the engine. You hit something and jerk the throttle with a 250, its not going to be anywhere near as bad of a scare as if you did it with a 600. So they are NOT all the same if you dont gun it. Everything has a different response and a different weight. I would start off on a much lighter bike and learn on that than a 400lb bike. You can think you are past it already, but you dont know. Take the MSF course BEFORE you buy the bike. See how those bikes feel. You'll be surprised. How do you definately know your boundries on the street if you have never been able to really ride a bike?

Did you know that painted lines and tar can wreck you? Do you know what to look for and avoid? probably not. and a high HP bike will only worsen any small mistake you make by 10 fold.

It depends on where you at and pretty much EVERYONE on here will recommend the MSF course. They do supply you with bikes. They are usually 250's some are 500's at the most. Thats why I said you will realize how touchy even the 250's are let alone the 600's. As far as price, it ranges in location. Mine was $200, and then some are $35. You would have to call and find out, cause it depends on where you are at. Those courses are very good for getting to teach you how to learn, but they will not teach you in the fact that there wouldnt be anymore learning. Some people get a false sense of security after taking these and think they are perfectly ready. YES, they do help, but you still have to practice!

Like I said, see what you think about the bikes you ride first. As for years, they are all for the most part equal..... a few things changed, a little performance differences, but nothing major. More of visual changes than anything.

SOME 03-04 RR's had Voltage Regulator / Voltage Rectifier bridge issues.

Everybody starts somewhere, I think its a good start that you havn't decided a liter bike is what you have to have for your start. A lot of people who don't ride think 600's are beginner bikes or that the minimal size of a "dangerous" sportbike is 750cc. Today the bikes are all so potent and the geometry is more focused on how well it will turn in at Barber Motorsports Park instead of at the next intersection. Even with all this track focus though a cool head and some sense will extend your ability to not become a typical statistic. We can get seriously hurt on a moped if we're not carefull, not that its the same thing but true. Things happen much faster on a sportbike because of the throttle response, geometry and even rider position. If you hit a bump or have to swerve around something mid corner it is comforting to have a more forgiving bike. Something that isn't so track focused. Someone had mentioned that if you must have a 600 an F4i would work well and that is pretty good advice. They are great sportbikes but they are also from a time when bikes weren't as extreme. CBR's have been known for a while as the best all around sportbikes for people who just like to ride a great handling sportbike that helps you out of trouble with stability and forgiving handling, but still nasty when it needs to be. Whatever you get, make sure it feels right when you are on it and keep it for a while. Learn how it reacts to your inputs and take care of it and it will take care of you. There are a lot of great knowledgable people on here that are just looking out for a new member..... Welcome to the sport.
