if you fill the fork up (minus spring) and measure with a steel ruler, from the top with sleeve extended 148mm (12.2us fl oz) dont forget to gently pump the sleeve to ensure that all the air is out of the bottom and check again. Gently place the spring into the oil and screw the top on. Then 6psi is added and then fit the shock back on. Should take no more than 30mins from start to finish. All the best...

While I am waiting for the parts, I started disassemble the front forks. And, I found out interesting device on the left fork. Does someone know what it is? This part is connected to the brake caliper.

It´s the Anti Dive device. It closes a valve inside the fork making it stiffer when you brake.

Hey guys I need your idea and advise!! I replaced front fork seals and put fork oil that was recommended by the motorcycle shop near by. The oil is 10 weight (I thout the HONDA original is 10 weight). Guess what, the brand new seal still leaks. When I replaced my old CB750F's seals, that was so hard to push in to the outer tube, my friend advised me, put the seals in the freezer over night to make the seals shrink. But, when I replaced CBR's, it was so easy to push into the outer tube. Were those wrong parts? Seals are from PartsUnlimited.

do you have any scoring on the chrome shaft? if you have then that will cause it to leak. Unfortunately, you may have a slight indentation on the shaft which is caused over time, and is not readily noticable to the nake eye. You will need to use a micrometer to tell. for either possibility, you have some options, 1, to have the shaft rechromed, 2, replace shock, 3, go to a dealer who specialisers in seals and see if they have one that may fit into the sleeve and seal the shaft. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Collector, Thanks for your advise and insight. Inner tubes look in the good condition. As you say, I don't see any visable scratch, scar or rust. When I got this bike, 12000 orirginal miles on it, and the previous owner said the bike was sitting outside with the cover a few years (maybe several years..). The condition was pretty good except for the top cowling had been cracked. Of course even with the low mileage, all the rubber parts are 20 years old, so I need to keep my eyes and replace those soon or later. I found out that the right fork started weeping a couple weeks ago. Until then, forks were finely working without any leaking. I can hardly think the inner tubes have problem. I replaced both right and left seals, but actually, left side was not leaking before I replaced the seals. Don't you think these seals are defective? I actually, chose cheaper one on the on line catalogue. Do you think I should get expensive one (only 5 USD different..) or HONDA genuien one?

Hey: Yas what type /brand of seal was it? I got 2 sets off ebay that was pretty poor as they leaked in 1 day and it was the only time I bought that brand. I changed to KL type and they lasted like normal. I used the other set in my drag bike and they leaked the first run on both sides. OEM Honda, Leakproof, or K&L aftermarket I have had good luck with, others have been suspect as 3 of 4 leaked(I mostly change both sides together)also it very important to get them in evenly. Honda has a tool for this for 41mm forks that you may be able to rent from the dealer. Good luck Dub

Dub, Ah.. I think the after market "PartsUnlimited" cheap seal causes the leaking. I will try leak proof. Are you talking about the tool for push the seal into the outer tube? My friend who told me put seals in a freezer is a racing mechanic/racer. He does same way for every famous racer bilke. But, I remember that he also told me, "Stay away from cheap rubbers.." It seems I learned in hard way...Just like I wrote earlier, the seals that I used were to easy to set in (I could push into the outer tube with my finger nail).
