Yes they did, my bike had restricted boots stock, that later was carved up to full diameter.

If the bike was restricted or not depends in which market is was sold. In e.g. Sweden all bike brands was power limited to 100 hp from the late 80's and up to mid or late 90's. So, the difference is 35 hp on the crank for the Hurricane.

Here's something to rack your brain on: on the early model Hurricanes (87-88), they used the same carb boots for all the carbs. On the later models (93-96) there are 3 different boots. One each for the outer carbs and a pair for the inner carbs.

I have a 96 - did they do this to even out flow or is it a rh outer, lh outer that have bends (mirror images) and straight tubes for the centers?  Did they push the carbs closer together to narrow up the machine a little, thus the need for the different boots?  Would my bike have restrictions in the boots?  (US model).

Thanks, Pat

On all models there appear to be diiferent sizes of boots depending which country you live in.  This was done at the time to comply with that countries law on the final output of the bike.  Here in the uk it was 135hp but realistically you had to do some major pulling about to get that type of figure out of the bike.  And even with new bikes to get extra performance you still have to spend, spend, spend.  So I would check with the dealer first to see if you could get a larger bore pipes on both sides of the carbs........
