everything you said sounds mostly cosmetic. id be worried about the consumable parts such as the condition of the chain, sprockets, are the forks leaking, how are the tires. on the f3's check the gauge cluster and make sure the odometere, trip meter and speed o make sure they all work. make sure no leaks from the crankcase. also very important ask questions about the regulator, battery and rectifier. the f2/f3/f4/900's all have issues with the electrical.

It sounds like a reasonable price. But like the others said, give it a very close look for any leaks, etc., make sure rims and frame are straight. If you're new to this, bring along someone who knows bikes and can look it over for you and take it out for a spin to make sure it shifts smoothly through all the gears, doesn't pull to one side or shake at speed. And if it looks like it will need new tires or brake pads, factor that in along with what you'll pay for a new mirror and foot peg, and use that to get him to come down a little on the price. An F3 is a lot tamer than current 600s, but it's still a serious sport bike and can get you into trouble if you don't respect its power and performance. It's not really the ideal starter bike, but if you are sensible and cautious, you should be OK. It's definitely one of the most comfortable sportbikes ever made, so it's a good choice if you'll be using it for transportation, and not just for tearing up the twisties or doing track days.

I'd walk away with that bike for $2300. Not a penny more. It's worth it though!

I just bought a 95 f3 for 1200 yesterday as my first bike.. Mechanically sound bike had it looked at by a mechanic i know. Cosmetically needs a little TLC due to the fact the girl who i bought it from layed it down at about 30 mph. Like they said has plenty of power for a beginner maybe a little to much. I have already noticed how easy it is to exceed the speed limit and not even notice. I was doing 60 in a 35 and at about 9,000 rpm hold on. FUN bike youll love it overall, just dont get to crazy.

Easy to exceed the speed limit? Really, I thought it was just a dodgy speedo!

in the end just remember this.... "is it really that good of a deal you cant walk away?" when dealing with people who absolutely wont budge on price i often try to remember that ... $2500 isnt that bad of a price so personally id try to get it down to 2300 because you will need money letf over to fix those parts. good luck and let us know what you decide

If you're waving $2300 in cash under his nose, is he really going to turn down a sure thing on the hope that somewhere out there he'll find someone who will pay him his full asking price?

Id save up another 1k and get a much newer Honda. After rebuilding mine totally and spending 3K or alittle more in total, I almost wish I saved a bit more and bought a new less outdated bike. My 2 cents. Good luck either way.

Hey guys thanks for postin!! umm... soo i offered him full price, cuz its only been for sale for 3 days and i know it was gonna move fast. Also its my first bike and i dont really care about the fairings.. plus it really wasnt as bad as it sounds, just some minor scrapes really. Umm yeah plus i am getting a helmet, joe rocket jacket, centerstand, cover, and a whole lot more.... I think its a good deal and two other people have already made him a deal after i did... its worth it for a first bike i think... Now i just need to convince the Rents that i am gonna be totally in control. It will be tight i guess haha. Oh yeah one more thing... i want to get my own helmet and jacket and shoes... what do you guys suggest? if i dont get any returns i'll prolly just make another post. thanks again guys for the info!

Sounds like a good deal to me. Dont' worry about the 'firm' price. Alot of sellers raise the price by a few bucks then drop it to make you feel like you talked them down (dumb little game).
