my first Bike was a 2002 cbr f4i, I was never a gsxr person i always liked honda. I just traded in the cbr 600 f4i becuase i wanted a brand new bike. I only owned the 600 for 2 months and got a 06 leftover 2006 cbr 1000rr becuase i got it so damn cheap. Everyone says that im going to kill myself on it. I signed up for the motorcycle training course, its 300.00 and it saves 10% a year on your insurance. My advice is i never crashed my 600 becuase i respected it, If you abuse her shell abuse you. good luck, i read the 1000rr is the best 1k you can get.

yes i'm in love with the 1KRR but i fear it so much. I respect all riders and bikes even though its a harly. I don't really get the whole harly vs streetbike thing. I always wave, but if you don't wave back, your getting the finger. j.k. I believe in karma since I started riding. No one really answered my question: Have you ever broken the back tire loose under acceleration? what does that mean?

It's like a rolling burn out. Where you give it to much gas and the tire looses traction with the road. I'v done it a few times on cold tires, in the wet, or in the twisties. kinda fun if you don't panic, but it'll let you know how much pure power you've got between your legs. Of course, some of us have lived with that much power there our whole lives...LOL

that sum it up real nice. I never done that before. I not sure if my EX500 has the power to do that. Is that a common occurance?

ORIGINAL: TheX A 600RR will be more than enough for you, but a 1KRR will be fine *if* you respect it. Anyone that says a 600 is too small has never riden the 600RR. I'll second that. The 600RR will be a ENORMOUS leap in power from what you are currently used to. The 1000RR will drop kick you right on the left baby-making testicle if you accidentally slip on the throttle. The 1000's have an enormous (new word of the day ) amount of power on tap. The 600's are a little more forgiving than the 1000. But as Tahoe said, get what you want. I would recommend taking an advanced MSF course (or even a superbike class - REALLY HELPS) Those superbike classes are pretty expensive ($750-$2000), but MAN do they help with taming these things down.

I've taken the MSF class, but the superbike class sounds interesting.

Ive been tossed from my 250 dirt bike because of too much throttel. A 250, 500, 600 or even a 1000. It dont matter, any of the bikes can hand your ass to ya along with a slap in the face. Just be careful, take it easy and ride what you want.

Hell u could go out and ride a fiddy and still brake a couple bones and get some road rash lol. It all really depends on how much you respect the throttle and what kinda rider you are. Me, im a squidly wanna be stunter that likes to ride fast and split lanes most of the time. Other times I like to cruise. I wrecked on my 1kRR cause i was doin stupid stuff, if i woulda bought something smaller i woulda done the same most likely. Like i said, it all depends really on how u ride, not really the bike. But as soon as you dont respect it, it will bite you in the ass. PS, the 1krr is my first bike ever and other than me bein a dumbass there really aint any problems with it.

Whenever this topic comes up, I can never understand this logic that inevitably comes up ... a child's tricycle "can hand your ass to ya..." too if you peddle it too fast and you do a face plant on the asphalt, does that mean it's just as safe as a hayabusa?

A tricycle will only go as fast as you pedal (And thats not that fast). And if you’re not pedaling and just coasting it down a hill to go faster then you’re ridding the tricycle incorrectly and probably will crash. And in theory the same goes for a bike. It only goes as fast as you tell it and if you mess around you will go down.
