new here ...............
not sure if anyone can help me I a 1993 cbr 900rr with a bad motor (spun berring well it sounds like) in perfect shape.I also just picked up a 1998 cbr 900rr no plastics and a cracked frame for $250.00. My question is I want to do a motor swap on the 93 or would it be better to get a new frame and plastics for the 98. I need a mess of part for the 98 a tank, full plastics , frame , and a back rim. What would I need to swap the motor over?? I have all of the wiring and motor parts from both bikes. I was told by a couple of people that the motor from a 93-94 was the only option I had but after reading the classifieds I noticed that some one else was asking the same question but for a new bike. I could use any help I can get on this thanks

BTW............I was given a couple of prices to rebuild the motor on the 93 and it was a average of 2500.00 is that a normal price??

IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE HAVING DONE TO REBUILD IT. . THAT IS CHEAP IF THEY ARE ONLY DOING THE BARE MINIMUM.AND IF THATS THE CASE WHAT IS GOING TO GO NEXT AFTER YOU JUST SPENT THAT $2500. USE THE 98 MOTOR ,HARNESS, CARBS,ETC.EMAIL ME AT CHRISMXRIDER200@HOTMAIL.COM. I SPECIALIZE IN BUILDING THESE BIKES.I BUILD FULL OUT RACE 900 MOTORS WITH OR WITHOUT TURBO OR NITROUS,BIG BORE KITS,ETC. IS THAT 93 MOTOR FOR SALE I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING THAT MOTOR

Yes the 98 motor will fit into the 93 frame. I'm riding one now. Wasn't that difficult of a job, it's been a couple of years so I don't remember the details that well. You will have to make a couple of "spacers" for the frame to motor mounts, the 98 is a narrower motor. It will also shift reverse aka (race or gp shifting), which I love. you can use the 93 harness as well, I even used the carbs off the 93 because they had already had apporpriate jets installed and didn't utilize the 3D ignition throttle position sensors. Hell, even the 93's exhaust will work. Just do yourself a faver and save that 93 893 block, people love those things for some reason. Build it back up when ever time and finaces allow. But anyway, all in all it's a nice fit and the 918cc motor is as good of a mill as the 893.. Message me for email if you have any questions.
