so, ive just recently done my first couple of track days and ive fallen in love (i knew i would, lol). i pretty much know that i would like a dedicated track bike, but im not sure what i should look for. id like another 600rr, but brand loyalty aside, what other bikes (years, models) would you suggest since id need to keep my options open? ive heard good things about the newer gsx-r 750s. also, what sort of modifications should i be making to a dedicated track bike? bodywork, steering damper, fork and rear shock upgrades, as well as brakes are some things i have in mind. im going to quit while im ahead now, since im all loopy on pain pills (just had the wisdom teeth pulled), but i appreciate the help guys.

Start looking at race bikes for sale (WERA, CCS, NESBA, etc... classified forums). That way you'll get a fully prepped and ready track bike that will have all the work done for you as they usually will have race bodywork, suspension upgrades, sliders, etc... but stay away from bikes with lots of engine work done, stock motors are the ticket for reliability. As for what type of bike, really unless your racing at the front of the pack, anything 2001 or newer, 600 or 750 will do just fine even a SV650 make a great track bike. Gixxers are the most common and there are the most parts aviable (at the track), but any 600 or 750 will have plenty of parts aviable. Also stay away from 1000's, 95% of people are faster, by at least a couple seconds a lap on the track with a 600.
