There is a seperate tank (sort of) for reserve, there are two levels in your tank ok. If you leave the petrol lever on reserve from full, you still use all the petrol in the tank. wot reserve is for is to remind you to get petrol within the next 40klms (15 miles or so) depending on how hard you have been riding. You know when to go over to reserve when the bike starts to sputter & then stop, & then you can switch over to reserve and be on your way. Can you see where this is going, leave it on reserve and when it eventually sputters & dies, your up the perverbial, and you then either start pushing or get at lift to the next fuel stop & hope your bike is still there when you get back. Do this, fill up the tank, set your trip meter to zero, and when next you go over to reserve you have good idea of how far you can go next time before a refuel. the reason being, you don't want to run your bike down to the dregs of the tank to often, as it sucks all the crap that lurkes on the bottom of the tank and deposits it in your carbies. just get in to the habbit of restting the trip each time you fill up. Never trust reserve to get you to the next fuel stop, especially if your way out of town
