My clutch fluid turned black shortly after my initial brake in period. Is this normal and how often should it be changed? Also will aftermarket clutch and brake lines improve the performance of the clutch and brakes and why?

Yeah, mine turned black too. I thought perhaps it got over worked whilst trying to get in & out of Laguna Seca @ the USGP. Anyone who had to endure that farce will appreciate. Any way, whilst I was @ the GP, I picked up a Galfer Superbike kit for my 1000RR. It included F & R brake lines as well as the clutch.

So I replaced the fluid all the way around with synth brake fluid. My clutch side remains light in colour.

The stock line on the 1KRR is stupidly long and complex - took more time to remove it than both OEM front lines and the OEM rear line! Lever actuation & feel for the clutch is vastly improved. I would strongly encourage everyone to replace the stock piece.

Cheers
