was just checking out State 8 which offers the MSF course near me and they want to charge me $295, are they crazy or is this a joke? And what's funny is that they state its not for profit, that's BS!
Some1 on here told me it was $25 where they took it, so i was assuming like $50, but i guess not.....no MSF course for me. what a rip off

Wow! Where do you live? I'm in Indiana I took mine for $25(I think). It wasn't for profit either. There was a club called A.B.A.T.E that gave the course in a parking lot. They stated that you can make a donation along with the entry pay. But it wasn't required.

im in cleveland, OH and that was going strictly from the MSF course to the Offerer's website where it told me the price.  Good news though, i just found one that goes through the BMV that only costs $25 like you said. i think it's a strictly state course... i cant believe MSF though

That's cool. It sucks getting pulled over with your permit at night with a passenger. I had my permit for 3 years. Only because my local BMV never really told me where to sign up for a driving(riding) test. I didn't get a ticket. But the cop told me everything I needed to do. (He rode bikes too.) Good luck.

It's only $20 here in Central Illinois and you get your $20 back at the end of the course.  Most of us donate it.  Also, I think the instructors here are volunteers who just give up their summer to teach.

Ill second that... I live in Illinois too and took the class through Northern Illinois University's MSF. A weekend course and they gave me a slip I brought to the DMV. They had locations all over the state from spring to fall. I was a walk in, and luckily got a spot. $20 donations, optional.

Its $200 here in Fl, but its well worth it.I dont know what the $25 classes give you, but the MSF course is really good.

Damn, does seem pretty steep, but, like D2M said, it's well worth it. Especially if you're a beginner. I mean, say you get in an accident, God forbid, I hope that never happens to you, or anyone...you'd be like, man, if only I did this, or only if I'd done that...well, most likely, the MSF course would teach you ALOT of good pointers, that you could've used. If you can't afford that, look around, even if it's an hour away. It'll benefit you in the long run! Wish ya' the best!

The MSF is $125 here at the commnity college and they are booked solid months in advance.  If you don't have your license, you take your certificate to the DMV when you pass and they hand you your license.... nothing else to do.

Plus, if you are a Honda Rider's Club member, Honda will reimburse you either $75 or $100 for the course... I forget which amount, but makes the MSF pretty reasonable though.  It's well worth it either way.

over $200 here too, and worth every penny. Aren't you the kid getting the liter bike though? You OBVIOUSLY don't need something so expensive if you already have the 1337 ride.

woh bro, i cant believe you got so jumpy. its $300 to $370 around NYC and those courses are not offered by the state around here but by companies and profit firms. the course is called MFS but they are embedded to the firm or agency, like MANYS(motorcycle association of NYS) MFS or Bobs MFS.
also, states are non-profit organization but that doesnt mean no-charge....

Here in Northern VA it was $125 last year, but in speaking to the instructors that price is heavily funded by the DMV. That is, the true cost is much higher.

My wife recently took the class with a private (for profit ?) company called APEX, and it was $345 for exactly the same class.

Its expensive, but certainly worth it.
