Its been a few years since I had to put new rubber on the old girl but its time.  Just wondering what anyone reccomends for actual tire brands.  Going to stick with stock size, but wondering if anyone has preferance over one to another.

I'm interested too.  My rear spins if I give it more than half throttle in the rain, and it's always raining here in Seattle.

dunlop gt501's. good high milage tire, good grip wet and dry, good wear.
michelin pilot sport. excellent grip wet and dry. quick wear. pricey.
avon azaro-st. pretty good all around like 501's.
bridgestone bt014. excellent grip dry, okay wet. little less pricey than pilot sports. wears quickly.

I love my pilot sports, but like michigan says they don't last long and they are not cheap. But for all the twisty canyon roads around here its a must.

I picked up these Avons on ebay, the price was right and they shipped quick, the tires are radials and they have more side wall that the Dunlop 501's which is a plus in my book!

Stock sizes are 110 in the front and 140 in the rear.  Do you guys recommend that or to up a size?  Thanks.  I'm looking at some Bridgestone Battleax BT-45's right now.

I found the BT-45's in sizes 130/90 or 140/80 only.  The stock rear is 130/80.  What would be the effects of one of the other sizes?

oem sizes is 110 f r, 130 rr.

taller front, slower steering, taller rear, faster turning.

wider is rider preference. you can go wider for more contact patch but imo, 110 and 150 max.

Sorry, I meant 130.  So if I go with the 130-90 in the rear, it'll turn quicker, but have a smaller contact patch and be a little less stable, and if i go with the 140-80, I get a slower turn-in but a bigger contact patch and more stability.  Is that right?

this bike has no rear height adjustment. so, the front and rear tire heights are the same per the factory specs. thus, if you run a smaller height rear and the stock height front, the rear of the bike is lower, so the response is slower steering irregardless of tire width. stability will be the same as if the tire heights were the same. so, to get the bike back into balance, you could move the forks up into the triple clamps a certain amount or whatever is measured from stock.

now, if you run the stock height rear with a lower height front, the bike becomes front bias and thus the result is quicker steering. there is no way to get the rear down since there is no rear suspension height adjustment. another result of this front bias is that the bike becomes unstable but only at higher speeds.

if you go with a wider tire, you obviously get a larger contact patch. but the reality of going wider is that you will probably start hitting hard parts before you ever get a knee down on the ground. besides that, if a 110 is on the front, there isn't a whole lot of contact patch relative to the rear. the front will probably come out even before the rear is extremely far over.

+1 on that, rubbed both feelers off both pegs twice now.
However the steering is still plenty fast on my bike with 120 front and 160 rear since the aspect ratio(sidewall height) is the same on both tires.
Just my 2 centavos

what are your buddies knee dragging on? remember that on this bike the pegs sit lower allowing for a more comfortable leg position instead of being folded like origami.
