Rear Rim and Clip On Question - 9/17/2005 5:43:46 AM

Hey folks, what's up. I'm new to the board, and new to owning a Honda Bike in general. I just picked up a 2002 954 that had gone down and needs some parts. My main questions are in regards to the rear rim and clip ons. Will another rear Honda rim fit the 954? A rim from say a RC51, 929, 1000, even a 600rr for that matter? For instance, there's a guy on Ebay with a 17-inch CBR rim with a 190 on it and he doesn't know what it come off of. I considered buying it, but didn 't know if it would fit. Looking at the rim its spokes aren't exactly the same as the 954s, but it was a 3-spoke wheel that had Honda stamped into it. Being that it already ran a 190 I kinda figured it would fit, but didn't know for sure. I'm not sure of the width of the 954 rim. I would figure it to be six inches, since it runs a 190? Sorry for the lack of knowledge, but I've mainly ridden Kawi's all my life and the majority of my spec knowledge resides there for now.
Also, what about interchangeible clip ons? Will ones from a 929, or even a 900 fit? They all do seem to look the same from those three models, but that means very little. It's possible they may all fit different tube diamters, or have different mount/lock points, or different installed angle positions. I know I'm asking alot, but you don't know if you don't ask. Thanks in advance for any and all's help.
I've already got some Ebay ads watched, but if anyone has a line on some good deals for the following please let me know:
Left clip on
Left mirror
Left and right clip on switch assemblies
Tank
Air duct covers (the black covers next to the tank)
Rear foot brake lever
Upper cowl
Mirror stay
Right and left fairings
Rear rim
Left and right engine covers.

Thanks
Abe

I know the rim on a 929 is the same as a 954 and about 85% sure about a rc51 rim. Good luck on your other parts. Oh, instead of buying another set of factory pegs I would highly suggest vortex rear sets.

Okay, thanks for the info. I'll look into the Vortexs.

i would try to get parts that u know what they came off of, and get parts that came off a 954, i redid a 2002 954, needed clip ons and air dams and subframe and simular things that u need and i foudn them all on ebay or 90% other few i went to my dealer. dont want ur bike breaking at 100MPH+ just cause u wanted to save a few dollars, and ya rearsets look pretty cool, or atleast buy some aftermarket pegs,
