You can use the later years, but you will need the light unit and the fairing bracket in addition to the upper fairing.

Okay, check it out... the swap is really easy.
Regardless of what year bike you have, you can put on any other years' upper fairing.
Here is my 1993 with 1999 carbon fiber fairings:

If you want 1998-99 front/upper then you need a 1998-99 fairing stay. If you want 1995-1997 front/upper then you need a 1995-1997 fairing stay. If you want 1993-94 front/upper then you need a 1993-94 fairing stay. The mirror stays are a little different. 1993-95(or 96... I forget) mount to the sides of the frame. If you look at the picture you can see an open hole on the frame, right below the grip. If you want to upgrade your mirror stay to the later model, simply buy a late model fairing stay and drill a hole out directly in the middle of the mounting plate. I had a buddy weld an extra plate of aluminium to keep durability up. If your bike already has the two-hole tank mount for the mirror stay, then you don't need to worry about that little bit. The headlight housing is as follows; 93-94.... 95-97.... 98-99. Just like the fairings... that's about it. A really simple upgrade.

The lenghts are different. The gauge mounts are also different. I forgot to mention that you will have to either zip tie your gauges or have a machine shop CNC a custom bezel. I didn't do either and just rode w/o gauges.

I'm not trying to hijack your thread but, I have a 93 900ss fairing stay for sale for $20 bucks. It was removed when new to go racing, It mounts the gauges, headlights and fairing. Not the mirror, It's listed in the for sale section

Thanks Jim
