ALways go for the highest grade at the station. (I assume that is what you meant....I mean that bike doesn't run on Diesel)

I have always used the 87 octane and it runs fine.

You will get a lot of variance on this subject. Each person has their own reasoning on which one to pick. I can show you pages on this topic from other forums.

My F3 calls for a min. of 87 octane. Everyone has there opinion. Anyways be sure NOT to get gas at Speedy Q or a place that has ethonal in the gas. Your carbs will get gummed up fast with that fuel. Even more if it sits for a while. Small engines hate that crap. Get gas from a good quality BP moble or somewhere.

The octane rating depends on elevation. Here in SC it doesnt go below 87. In the WY, you will see 85. Different elevations have different atmospheric pressures. I recommend using the highest available octane rating for optimum performance.

Higher octane does not necessarily yield optimum performance. It will only do such on engines designed for higher octane. Follow the link I posted.

Thanks for the link abadfish, not I can save myself some money at the pump.  I assumed I should be running 91, but looks like I will stick with the low or mid octane.

I use 91 or 89 depending on how much gas is at the time, but I only go to GOOD gas stations (chevron, mobile, shell)
