I went down one tooth so i don't know how much help i am here. like above, roll your bike till you feel the powerband, SLIP THE CLUTCH. bring it in with one finger then let it out all in one motion. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

i think i know what the problem might be

i have a heavy ass cage on my bike

not to mention the round bar and the heavy exhaust....but those are in the back anyway.

...i realized this when i race my buddies R6.

is there anyone with a cage here that can pop it up in 2nd?

dude youre not giving it enough gas thats the problem, when it comes up stay on the gas, when it feels like your gonna fall backwards, bring it back a lil futher, yes, i have a cage and i can bring it up in second, alot of people do, and your buddies R6 is faster than your f4i, thats why you lost that race,

im not worried about looping in 2nd...right now i'm just focusing on getting it off the ground....ill try some more tom.

and i know, the R6 has wayy more HP than my f4i...but i used to win cause hes a bit chubby....but ever since i stunted out my bike...

plus, his shit starts flying up towards the end of 1st gear.

that still doesnt make it the reason your bike wont wheelie.... what these guys are trying to say (or should be... iono) is that when you rev it, you wanna snap your rist as fast as possible... none of the limp noodle shit, just snap it like you mean it....  the faster you gain revs while the clutch is "slipped" the quicker you can pop it out and the more momentum/power your engine has built up... I used to think mine would never come up in second... kept practicin and practicin then realized i wasnt snapping my wrist fast enough...  now i can get it up in 2nd no problem, even with a full tank of gas on the RR

**Edit-besides, doesnt the weight from your deleted fairings make your "heavy ass cage" a moot point?  if not... think of the guys who are doing it w/ a full street bike... or better yet, one with a lot less power

trust me, makes all the difference in just popping it and actually bringing it up far enough to ride it out.  I started with my bike geared up (never been stock) so i didnt have to do much to bring it up in first...  not even a real slip just a slow drag in a way i guess...  when i started trying 2nd gear I realized that just wasnt going to work.  I had to play with it for about a week and had the same exact problem as you.  I kept thinking "it cant be the bike... everybody else snaps it up like nothing"  so i tried different ways, different speeds (also, dont go too fast, its harder to bring it up... just fast enough to get into the powerband), and then i finally decided to just go for it one day.  When you snap your wrist back you dont have to give it near as much throttle to get the same results.  Just whip it back like you mean it as you slip the clutch and it'll come right up for you.  Make sure your in second though, and COVERING that rear brake.  I thought i was in 2nd the other day but happened to be in first, (im a squid, i know) she comes up a bit fast and does a sort of bunny hop when you lay into the brake hard.

good luck, practice makes perfect, or as close as you can get.

99 F4, -1 in front. i can pop it up in second gear with no clutch no problem. trick is to stand up and at high rpm bounce and drop the trottle and bring it back. The front will come up all day long. that is you like doing standing ones. if sitting then just pop the clutch......... get comfortable with the bike before you try this stuff.
