who the f%*k said wheelies uphill? was it you 98CBR600F3 ? be honest. just kidding, but i did found it to be funny..

I just said "in theory" the front wheel would come up easier going uphill due to the weight shifting to the rear more.  I didn't say it would be a good idea, haha.....

My 94 F2 was the same way...I thought..but now I can get decent roll-on wheelies which I suggest you master first.

Then try using the clutch for wheelies...

The first time I used the clutch, revved it up to about 8-10 grand...(dunno exactly...wasn't looking...just guessing in hindsight)...and dumped the clutch in 1st gear...I nearly went over backwards...my mx days of riding kicked in and I hit the back brake and let of the throttle.

I'm not a great wheelie guy...and truth be told alot of the greatest racers of all time are not either...so....don't take wheelies as the be all and end all of your riding skill level.

Your bike will definately power wheelie in first gear. My buddy just bought an 03 RR and the first time I rode it it came right up in first gear. I weigh 190 pounds and it had no problem bringing it up. I took it to about 8000 RPM closed the throttle and opened it up. You probably need to get on the throttle harder. Keep practicing and you will get it but be safe.

the way i have learned is the same as you. it is all throttle my friend. you will find out that your letting the throttle down then waiting for the forks. dont

wack off then wach on. i have a cbr 600 and all i need is 25 mph or 4-5000 rpm.

go down one tooth in the front.

"wack off then wack on"... sounds painful.......... lol!!!!
you know me guys, i like to wheelie while snacking on a bowl of cereal. you just have to hit the throttle like it touched your woman.

I kinda want to learn as well but, I have popped the front up a couple times by mistake and when it came down it had the shakes which was scary when you did it by mistake...             it is hard to power up though because when you feel the bike start to transfer the weight to the rear your mind tells you to lean forward and not back like it would take

you know funny thing though in the msf class the instructor told us how to do it.  he was a fairly old guy but very nice and clearly loved driving his bike

yea i'm his "buddy".  Just like everyone says if you get it up to 8k in first gear just let of, but do not let of completely, just slighty.  Open the throttle hard and it will come up.  It wont come completely up the first time u do it.  Just play with how hard you twist the throttle and you will get it up just fine.

As for the bike shaking when you drop it,  if you get scared and let of the gas really quick , the bike will come down hard.  The best thing to do is, when the bike comes down, just give it a little more throttle and it will come down and accelerate pretty smoothly.

Dont be an idiot. Try in parking lots or when you are POSITIVE no cars are coming.

A steering damper will solve that little problem!

Trust me... the front will come up at 8-9000 rpms. I was out practicing wheelies on my freshly painted 05 600RR about two weeks ago. It stood straight up on me and threw me off at that rpm. (And I weigh 220) You can bring it up as far as you want. I think you prolly just need to work on the throttle control.

My last peice of advice... have at least an extra grand of money laying around to drop on parts if you flip it...

I can't get mine up in power-ups if my suspension is too tight. You need to be able to rock it. So try adjusting ur suspension.

Tried to power wheelie, scoot my butt to the back of the seat and try to put as much weight on the rear as I can  and then just get on the gas and keep it pinned. Front stays planted the whole way.... I watched the video posted by runamok but I cant get the front to budge at all like he does. I am starting to wonder if my bike might be a little underpowered though. I think he might be on the zx-10? Which would explain him power wheeling without having to work it that much. But I have heard of guys power wheeling these bikes as well. I am on a stock standard '04 model by the way.

my bike is a 2003 so you should be ok as far as it having enough power.  I can almost assure you that its just your timing and throttle control.  mine was stock until early this week and came up fine.  Just keep workin on it.  go up to 9k next time and let off just enough that the front forks compress a little, the crack it.  Eventually it will stand straight up.  i have read that people have been trown off the back pullin power wheelies on RRs so be carful.

ive got a 03 rr as well and i had a hard time gettin it up in  first gear.  it just takes practice. ive had the bike about a month now and i can get it up fairly easily.  the more  i practice the better it gets.  i bring it up to about 8-9 let off the throttle just enough to let the front end compress for a split second then nail the penis outa the throttle.  you really have to twist it up all the way.  if it isnt coming up then you prob arent giving it enough gas.  that was my problem at first at least.  good luck.
