Maybe the people who hate certain cops have had bad experiences with them, but in general, cops are who you call on when you're in trouble. I can understand if you hate a few certain cops because of how they mistreated you, but if you state that you hate all cops, then you're the biggest idiot I know of.

I personally cant stand it when people are all "i hate f-kin pigs, i hope they all die. . blah blah blah" I have a stupid brother that thinks this way, honestly makes me want to slap the hell out of him. But on to the topic. . . look, it all comes down to peoples maturity level. Lets face it, your going to run into a-hole cops from time to time. . its a fact of life. . just like your parents are dicks sometimes. . just like your brothers or sisters are dicks sometimes etc,. you have a cop from time to time that is a dick. But for the most part if you treat them with respect, they will treat you with respect. More importantly if your not out doing dumb shit, then you shouldnt have problems with cops in the first place. Keep in mind that the majority of cops out there arent looking to pick a fight, they are just trying to do their jobs and make it back home safely to their families.

If it weren't for my personality I would be a cop. I could never just cuff someone who hurt a kid or some girl without doin damage. The only time I ever had a problem I deserved it and am Man enough to acknowledge the fact I was doin something stupid at the time.

ORIGINAL: woogie I have a brother who was a Police officer. That helped me to understand more of what the police actually go thru, and gave me a different perspective. I always resented an officer who gave me an attitude like I had shot someone for going 10 or 15 over the limit (we all do it, cops included). But, after hearing from my brother, there is no telling what kind of BS that cop had to go thru - like dealing with an idiot like 1 UP (see above), or arresting the same crackhead for the 3rd time the same week because the courts keep letting him go. So, considering that kind of stuff, in addition to the numerous other experiences where I have dealt with police when they were pleasant, and I was in the wrong (hey, I like to drive fast), I have to hand it to the cops. They deal with a bunch of BS, and most of the time retain their ability to be professional. I wonder how the rest of us would feel if at work we had to take attitude and abuse from the majority of the people we deal with AND have to deal with the possiblity of getting shot at. I say give them a break. They have a job to do, and we all know that 90% of the time we deal with them, we were actually doing something wrong - even if it is just a stupid speed limit. Now, if you want to get all over someone, let's talk about the greedy folks at the city who put a 30 mph limit on a 4 lane divided road with very few entrances...come on! I understand there are times that police officers go through alot depending on the city or town. But if you are unable to to treat each situation as a new one with a fresh start, you are not doing yourself or the people that you are interfacing with any favors.

Agreed, but they are only human.... it's impossible for situations not to affect them - some days/situations more than others.

i don't like em cause they go out of their way to give you a ticket.....especially if you're on a bike. "meydey meydey shots being fired, office down....khekhkhkh.....sorry, biker didn't put his feet down at a stop sign, i have to give him a ticket." ...i may have exaggerated a bit too much on that one, but i hope you get the point.

you gots good cops and bad cops...you have cops with PMS and cops without, you have cops who are having a bad day, etc... just like regular folks...they too have issues, bad days, etc...so they aren't all bad...nor are they all good.

Funny, I have been riding motorcycles since 1968. I have yet to get a ticket except one, in 1972 for doing a wheelie in a parking lot that had public ingress and egress. Yes, I could have been ticketed many times for various violations. But, I don't flaunt noise, reckless behavior (in front of them) or improper riding apparrel. (wear a helmet and eye protection!) Sure there is luck involved, in not getting ticket in so many years, just don't be stupid in front of the law. Again respectful acts, will get respectful treatment.

Just something to think about. I think that we can all agree that sometimes cops have attitudes. The one thing that most people will not consider is to think "Why does that cop have an attitude". I personally have had some experiences that I hope most would never have to witness or go through. Just a few exapmles would be - On Jan 19 2005 I recieved a call of a missing three year old at approximatley 9:00 pm. To make a long stroy short after about 10 minutes on scene I found the boy. He was face down in a retention pond, and there were a few gators in the area. I went into the water and dragged the child onto the bank and me and my two partners tried everything we could but it was not enough. During the funeral services I was honored by the family when they asked me and my partners to be the paulbears (sp?). Another example would be responding to a father choking over dinner. After arriving on scene to a screaming family of three daughters and one wife and preforming cpr and being assisted by EMT's the father passed. And one last would be responding to a motorcycle vs Ford F-250 and the operator of the motorcycle laying on the ground laying like Jesus. I kneeled next to his mangled body and watch his eyes move to look straight into mine. After a few seconds I witnessed his chest rise and I heard his expell his last breath. As if that was not hard enough I then had to contact his family and notify them of his death. There are many other incidents like these the I could share, but my point of this post is not sympathy but to prove a point. After all these incidents I would have to close that particular one out and be ready to take the next call that came out to me. No time to adjust, no time to recover, no time just to think, just had to try to suck it up the best you could and do your job the best you could. Incidents like these may be the reason some cops have bad attitudes, not saying its right at all. But think about it, could you recover from any one of the three examples I just gave and be Officer Friendly less then 5 minutes after closing the call out. Its been over 2 years since Bailey drowned in the pond and I still have night mares and flashbacks to that evening regulary. Just something for you all to think about. And again thanks for your time and posts. Thumbnail Image

guess theres good and bad cops--had my fair share of both--in England they hide in back of a van/truck with speed cameras--on abike you'll escape prosecution but in a car you've got no chance, they wanna just get money for the government. A friend of mine drives for a living and shes been caught 3 times in as many months, thats 9 points ---12 and your banned from driving--sucks

Well, not that I am not sypathetic to your friend, but what has she learned in the past 3 mos.? Maybe, just maybe, if she would slow down a tad in at least "hot" areas of survellence, she may stop getting more points. It is a case of "who is at fault here"? The one disregarding the law or the enforcer of the law?
